What did you do in the garden today?

I am going to retire soon and I am looking forward to it.

I get up at 5 AM...feed the pigs...have to give something to the goats....let the chickens out...feed the fish...open the other pasture for the goats...go to work.

Get home from work...feed the pigs...have to give something to the goats...put up the chickens...close the goat pasture....work in the garden.

I am tired of other people telling me what to do and having to be at work at a certain time. After 50 years of hard labor I am a little tired.

Pole beans are blooming, getting some squash, sweet corn has tassels, and everything except eggplant and peppers doing fine.

With temps. in the 90s gotta water every day.

Mowed 2 lawns drug branches out to the road. I don't live at either of the addresses.

Sprinkled one section early this morning another right now. Will move it again in the morning. It made it to 97 here today. Corn likes it.

That looks like damage from a caterpillar.  Look around for some tomato hornworms.  They blend in very well, and may be small enough now that you may not easily see them.

Re: flea beetles:  I never have enough damage from them, (though the beetles are plentiful) that it's worth doing anything about.  My worst pests:  Japanese beetles, and potato beetle, squash bugs.  Also: slugs.  Though... for some reason, in spite of the heavy rains, the slugs aren't very plentiful this season.

Thanks, I still haven't spotted the culprits...

Politicalcenter: I hear you re: retirement. I'm tired too. Luckily, I only work per-diem now. My body couldn't take a full time load. But... oh how I crave my at home time. See and smell things growing. To hear the wind in the leaves of the trees, hear the birds calling to each other. And to interact with my flock, enjoy the garden: it's a balm to the soul!

Is this what your talking about @lazy gardener?
