What did you do in the garden today?

Got all my chores done including getting the last of the bulbs in the ground. I also repotted several of the seedlings in the greenhouse and started a pot of moss rose. It looks like we will get some nasty weather Wednesday so we may take the pets go stay with family since we don’t have a shelter. Normally we go over to the neighbors but we’ve had a few calls that were way to close for comfort the past 2 years or so and I’d feel safer if we in house with a foundation and shelter. Currently we live in house trailer. We were only supposed to be in it a year while we built the house but you can imagine how that went.
Stay safe!!! Also, I'm impressed...I still have a lot of seeds and bulbs sitting around staring at me.

I got some weeping willow branches from a friend and put 1 foot long pieces into water to root last week. They are already rooting and starting to put out leaves. I will need to plant into dirt soon, I better go out to the potting shed and find 20 containers to plant trees into.
Now to figure out where to plant 20 weeping willow trees, lol.

I also snipped all the thin branch ends and have them soaking in filtered water. IN a day or so, I will strain out the willow bits and use the willow water to root other plants. Maybe some huckleberry from the little tree that we need to cut down and maybe some lilac from the bush that DH is making me move. It is a pretty big lilac bush, so I want some starts from it before I start moving it, just in case I kill it.

Tried removing some seeds from a dry morning glory vine so they dont plant, only got about 1/4th of them after half a hour 😬 I gotta try and remove the full vine to chicken safe my yard

Planning to completely rip up the stuff from last year in the garden too that made it through the winter as the kale is starting to rot, tomato vines are fully dried, and the carrots are just short and piled on each other.

Also going to fence my favorite blueberry bush since I dont want the girls getting those since they only produce a few a year and they are my all time favorite (they will get tons of fresh mulberries from our tree though instead❤️)

Because...

We all need to try something new now and again.

Neccessity is the mother of invention.....

We need to replace the fence that goes around the chicken run - not an imminent need, but does need improving.

So, what does a pile of clearance boards, and a turkey fryer have to do with each other? A Steam Chamber!

Why? to bend Pressure treated wood to make the posts for the improved fence, so it curves to meet the roof overhang!

LOL! If we get enough done to make the fence, it will be interesting to see it completed!
I’m interested in seeing your results, very cool!

Whatever you do don’t plant them near the foundation or septic system or pipes. Willows put out some impressive roots.

What zone are you in or state ?

The puppies tried to be super helpful today. 🤣🤣 I had set a compressed bale of wood shavings on the porch to take to the chicken coop later. Then I left to go meet a friend for dinner. This is what I found when I got home!

This is the older dog, not one of the culprits.
I also used some birthday money towards a new Gorilla cart! Couldn’t find any grow lights or heat mats.
