What did you do in the garden today?

4.76 inches of rain in 36 hours. I'm glad we're on TOP of the hill.
Foggy soupy mess out there now.
Not so much rain here yet, but very cloudy and foggy today with colder temps back in the 30s. We are supposed to get a snow and rain tomorrow I believe.

CORRECTION: Show today and rain late tonight. Forecast says "heavy snow". I'm not too keen on that. It makes me yearn for vacation that much more. We leave next Friday, and I cannot wait to get into the 80s for a week.

Good morning all. I've been super busy since my last post. First off: Happy Birthday @karenerwin . I noticed my Dinosaur kale was sprouting so I checked the other tray of seeds. I used plastic wrap to cover it and everything dried out, so I replanted everything. I also got the okra, peppers and cucumbers started. This time I used a sandwich size plastic baggy over the the pots. It's what I put over the kale so it seems like a better idea. DD and I went searching for a sideboard on Saturday. We went to 4 consignment / antique shops and found nothing. We even stopped at a regular furniture store. I found one in there but the earliest I could have it was mid June. I found one online from Overstock. They were having a clearance sale and I found something that should work. It will be arriving next week. To make up to DD for driving me all around Metrowest, Massachusetts I bought lunch at one of her favorite restaurants. It was strange being inside a restaurant again. Although the tables were still socially distanced, it was just weird. They have been closed to indoor dining for nearly a year and are just now re-opening. No garden work today. The temps were 12F when I crawled out of bed. It's only 16F right now. I totally messed up yesterday and forgot to send my usual "Happy Pi" day to my nerdy math loving friends. I did make a chocolate cream pie though. As for pruning trees here @chickengr and @WthrLady, there's been so much snow and ice on the ground where the trees are I had to wait until enough melted that I could get to the trees. March seems like the best month to prune my trees, of course we have had the occasional Nor'easters that dump 3 feet of snow at a time here in Mid March. But we only got some scattered snow showers so far. The first day of Spring will be here soon and I'm hoping we are done with the bitter temps after today.

Moved the started squash and nasturtium plants outside for some extra sunshine / hardening off. The grass seed is sprouting on the bald patch in the front yard, so that's great! We also have some tulips starting to bloom!!!

I love spring flowers. They tend to surprise me every year - as in suddenly there is a plant growing and "Wow, I forgot that was planted there".

I would love to get the front flower bed regenerated and plant a bunch of tulips and daffodils. We are getting some Paper Birch seedlings, so that would be an area to plant daffodils.

Got all my chores done including getting the last of the bulbs in the ground. I also repotted several of the seedlings in the greenhouse and started a pot of moss rose. It looks like we will get some nasty weather Wednesday so we may take the pets go stay with family since we don’t have a shelter. Normally we go over to the neighbors but we’ve had a few calls that were way to close for comfort the past 2 years or so and I’d feel safer if we in house with a foundation and shelter. Currently we live in house trailer. We were only supposed to be in it a year while we built the house but you can imagine how that went.
