What did you do in the garden today?

How very odd huh Oyster cannot be bought in the big bags here just now you can buy tons of the 5 lbs no 50 pound
halfd the price of the 5's
That’s too bad. Haven’t checked here. I did however open the new bag of grit...unfortunately it is tiny 1/16” gravel...basically chick grit. Sigh. Will need to get more regular/larger grit.

Did you ask for a price check ?
Nope. IT's right. The price of lumber has gotten INSANE.
If I didn't HAVE to replace this roof on the coop this summer I'd wait some. I'm still going to put it off as long as I can. No breach for creatures in it, but it is leaking.

10$ for a treated 9/16 10 foot long deck board. The 8x10 deck for my greenhouse cost over $400 for materials.

I am so sorry @WthrLady, so heartbreaking. :hugs And I am positive the others know things have changed. My girls knew something was wrong the day I had to cull the boys and that was with the deed being done out of their view with no sound. They were quiet and cautious for days afterward.

Frick it, the temp dropped to freezing again last night in the greenhouse, and just when everything was sprouting so nicely :hmm. Oh well, nothing was really hurt, it'll just slow things down again. And my Early Girl finally has a sprout coming up so now all the tomatoes have sprouted but the Buffalosteak I planted yesterday. The shallots and garlic are growing nicely, crossing my fingers they are ready to harvest before I have to put the tomatoes in the raised beds.

Finally going to be able to stop neglecting the garden because the run rebuilding is done! Just have to do some stapling and the girls are all set. Enjoying a beverage under the new shelter very tired from today. Luckily i ordered 90% of the materials in early January bc what i have bought the last two weekends to finish has been insane.

Question on oyster shells...we eat a ton of oyster from fall to spring, should we keep all of our shells and break them up somehow for the hens? If so, whats the best way to accomplish that task?

Take mallet to them Like use a feed bag you can crush them

I’m tired. I dug gladiolus, day lilies and 3 types of daffodils and to send home with my grandmother who was visiting. I also divided several patches of daffodils, lily, and hyacinth. I had to replace the bulb in the heat lamp this morning. I’ll have to order some more so they come in before the chicks hatch.

Good grief how out of line can things get :he
AND while DH was walking Suzie on her leash on OUR property, the asshole neighbor's Weimeraners shot across their useless underground electric fence and went after Suzie. Don't think they broke the skin anywhere, but she is freaked out. DH is pissed. The kids are the ones that came out to get the damn dogs that then took off running. Guess I'll be having words with them later.

Just dammit. I mean come ON.
