What did you do in the garden today?

I live on the wrong side of the continent for these, but this is the second I’ve found
Maybe it's a different variant. And we weren't supposed to have preying mantis in Florida, but we had them everywhere. And we weren't supposed to have Green Ash Borer here when we moved here in 2013, but I found 4 that year alone, and it wasn't 'officially' here until 2018 ::Eyeroll:

And I may, or may not, have brought a whole heck of a lot of black widows here with me from Alabama. Luckily, they cannot survive our winters. PHEW.

Just opened up the greenhouse. It was 85 and sultry. LOL.

I installed a wind catcher in the orchard. It's purdy.

Beans aren't up yet, but I tossed down some half fertilizer anyway. I need to get some nitrogen on the onions.

Strawberries are looking grand. I let them wander wherever they want to be.

And the dirty dozen are dirty at 6 weeks old.

I’m an Alabama native- bham!

I just went out and moped around in the garden for a bit. The drake was out of the duck run and in the garden again. I need to replant the glass gem corn, but first I need to keep his royal assness out of my garden! We have 10 ducklings in the brooder, but only one drake and 1 duck in the run right now. He's a good breeder too and half the ducklings are new genetics he could potential breed with. So with that, I don't want to put him on the chopping block. I am switching them to meat bird feed. That should help fatten him so more so he cannot fly. I like the walking boulder type of duck, not the flying kind. :gig However, I need to do something ASAP to keep him in his place in the mean time. I am thinking about using bird netting I have on hand and creating a screen over the fence maybe 6-8ft tall from the ground. That SHOULD keep him in. I don't want to cover the top of their run because I have enough trouble keeping sticks and leaves of the netting over the chicken run thanks to the half dead thorny tree my neighbor's wife seems to love (she is a very nice lady and has a nice yard, but this tree drives me insane) that hangs partly over my yard.

That's my rant for this morning... Back to work soon, so catch all of you later this afternoon.

I love the name "the dirty dozen". Reminds me of a grueling series of exercises we used to do in high school football practice that my coach would refer to as "the dirty dozen". Your version is much cuter.

Also, that's a heck of a lot of wood clamps in the back ground. Is that a wood shop? If so, I'll be so jealous. No room here for such a thing. If I ever get my few acres, I'll definitely have a shop for all sorts of things.

Thanks. The peepers are adorable- live the white ones. Lucy is sweet looking and I am pea green with envy over your beds- I only have 2.
Thanks! They are doing great but I might have to pull a good deal of garlic and shallots early, not enough room for the tomatoes! We'll see, I have a couple beds of greens and we and the critters can eat up all the greens pretty fast. I just learned that we can feed the fennel to the rabbits too so that'll clear a huge area. And you really can never have too many raise beds. It's reaching the point that I'm considering adding beds where we have a road now. mmmm...more beds... :drool
Also had to run a snake out of the coop luckily the chicks were alright. We poked it on the head about 20 times trying to get it to drop the wooden egg.
OMG, that is one lucky snake!
My bunching onion seeds have disappeared so I may be picking up more of them.
I am so glad I'm not the only one. I always tell DP that whatever is missing will show up and that's generally true.
The horseradish is in bloom.
That is so pretty, now I really do have to plant some. And those are pretty chicks, what kinds are they?

Got way too much to do, I have to make the divider for the coop so I can get these peepers out of my bathroom. I need to get most of the tomatoes and peppers planted or up-potted, got to get the watering and plant feeding done, we have critters to process, and I need to figure out where to put more raised beds. :) Oh and DP used the B&D Weeder/Mower yesterday and it worked a treat! Maybe too good, I think she over extended herself and is feeling poorly. I'll get the pavilion set up and give her a shady spot to just sit and enjoy the garden today.
