What did you do in the garden today?

I feel bad for complaining about it being 95 here with what everyone in the PNW is going through. Especially since air conditioning is standard here. It’s miserable out though. I just iced the chickens water and set up a fan. No gardening until much later tonight/afternoon. Also set up some homemade fly traps. The remnants of tropical storm Danny are supposed to move in tomorrow and bring us still more rain.

I wish it would rain. It keeps teasing us.... Gets dark for a few minutes and you can clearly see the clouds are heavy with rain. Then it just moves on.... 😔

Yesterday it rained for a few minutes. Nothing that penetrated the ground. Just left things even more sticky and muggy when the sun came back out in full throttle.

But just so you know....each time one of you mentions "it's raining today," it's like a knife in my gut..... 😂 I know, I know.....thou shalt not be jealous. 🙄

I feel like I’m having an allergic reaction to something this morning. It does make much sense since I haven’t been exposed to any of my known allergens or anything new in the past 24 hours. Will probably stick close to the house for the rest of the day incase I start having breathing issues.

I used to have allergy issues. calcium supplement helped me a lot.

I've been trying not to post anything publicly because I don't want to lose my job... But I can tell you 100% for certain that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was a bioweapon. There is intelligence data that the pandemic was planned and part of a psyop. I, personally, do not trust the vaccine and will not get it....although I don't fault others who do. I have worked with the intelligence community and with government for a very long time. I have never seen anything quite like this before.... This is like sleeper cells on steroids. No one trusts anyone anymore. I have seen so many agents retiring right and left because of the shady things happening behind the scenes. Same with law enforcement.

Anyway, I can't imagine being stuck on an island and being in lockdown. Especially for something that is nothing but a fantastic lie. My thoughts, prayers, and concerns go out to you.....

agree with you 100%

The mouse traps are old wore out, which is why they make good chicken snappers, their sound is much worse than their grab, I snapped a few on my finger to make sure. I set up a horn on one planter, but that was a bit loud, was concerned about the neighbors. Its more the thing making a snappig ish sound but more the somersault it does when it lets loose that scares the crap out of the bird, and it not wanting to climb into the planter anymore.

Flies, umm yah, I don't know what is with this year but they seem crazy. I found that rancid beer is a terriffic attractant. Just pour some beer into your trap, in a day or three, it will be full of flies. Don't spend good money on those stupid scent pads they want to sell you, just the little dribblings in the bottom of beer cans work.

Rain, yep its rainy season here. getting the afternoon TS every day now and the AC on all the time. Another thing I do is, where the AC drains outside, I put my sweet potato's there, in the water, they grow stupid crazy, I get pounds and pounds every year.

Strawberries, mine are in a growth spurt now. Im hoping they are going to get some new berries soon, the guava is full of new fruit too, that should be good when it's ripe.

Same here on the flies.... They are crazy bad. DH bought 3 cans of Raid to use in the house and tack room of the barn. I wish I had something organic to use for the flies in the coop. I didn't do my routine cleaning of the coop this weekend just because of the flies. Driving me crazy.... It was bad enough just collecting eggs.

I read an article today about the biblical plague of grasshoppers. Due to the heat and dry weather... I couldn't help but laugh at the comments section. Somebody wrote that it's a veritable feast for your free range chickens. So maybe you can lend a few to your neighbor... 😂

I found one tiny section of one of the blackberry patches that didn't get burned down last winter. It had a small handful of blackberries. So sweet, plump, and juicy! I can't wait for next summer when the regrowth begins to fruit.

I still have 2 of the thornless blackberries to plant, too... Just gotta figure out WHERE to put them. I don't really have a good spot that isn't already growing something or a jungle that needs to be cleared first.

And.... I ordered a dozen Rainbow hatching eggs. In case any of you were following the Chicken Poop Bingo contest. DH is going to absolutely KILL ME for getting more chickens... 😂 I'm going to incubate them in the house instead of giving them to a broody but I'm hoping that I can give them to one as day old chicks... Will luck be on my side that I can be successful that way twice?
The flies are biblical in my yard. I ordered two more of those ranch fly traps. They do work- I use ACV and egg as an attractant - have added a little chicken poop too. Set then about 2 ft off the ground BC3E6D93-EBB9-4619-B37A-7B6DD7271CAC.jpeg and wow. Had to slightly bend one side so it would sit right, but ok. Picture is from earlier in the month

Hi! I garden as well, so I’m going to hop on this thread!
Welcome to the thread, be sure to post pics, we all love to see other folks gardens!

Never got really hot here (too close to the ocean) just up to 80 yesterday, and breezy and cooler today. got about half the lawn mowed so far and trimmed up the shallots. I'll try to get them braided later today. Some of them are as big as onions. 20210628_130748.jpg

This is my beautiful first tomato this season, an Early Girl. I took this picture yesterday. 20210623_180345.jpg
This morning I can see that a danged slug has licked a hole in it. :he

The yarrow that I planted last year is blooming this year: 20210623_175057.jpg
