What did you do in the garden today?

@Elyrian1 I love to hear that! So glad you're both well!

@Wee Farmer - headed past your house tomorrow! We have a memorial for a friend that passed up in NH. I'm glad you love your stove. I do wonder how I'd do a large pressure canner as I have a glass top stove. Maybe on the grill side burner would work best.

Anyway y'all, I ordered a brooder plate & the hatchery responded to me & said just specify no extras when ordering. & My Yellow isn't doing well, I may call it tomorrow before we leave. Poor girl isn't feeling well.

I’ve used this canner on my old glass top but not any pressure canning. I had a boil ring and it was said to be ok but I didn’t trust that. If your gas grill would hold the weight of a loaded 23 quart pressure canner with a constant heat it should work.

If you think it would work, it’s available.

if not a pressure canner,a freeze dryer works too, last a lot longer as well. I have one and love it, can do most anything in it.
Tell me more about this freeze dryer, please! Brand name, model? Cost, if I may ask? How loud is it? How long would it take to freeze dry something like strawberries? Green beans?

If you had it do over again, would you buy it at today's price?

They aren't cheap, that's for sure! I've been watching harvest right for a few years, You can use $1000 extra a year in electricity ($2.50 a day) sounds about the same as a vacuum (neighbor has one), and if you don't grow all your own food, you're buying food to freeze. Figure one load a day.

Upside, and this is huge for me, I have so many allergies that the prepackaged stuff is a no no.
