What did you do in the garden today?

We had a squirrel try living under a dormer once. We served eviction papers!

DH built another garden box section last night after work. It's ready to be filled with soil, and I'm going to see if I can get that done today. He also got the apple tree planted last night, so I'll add that to my watering list. I missed the excitement last night, lol. I had to run to the store for diapers as soon as DH got home, and while I was out my dad realizes the pump is running and won't stop... but there was no water pressure... (we live on the same lot and use the same well).

Turns out a switch on the pump was gummed up with dead bugs and while it was running it wasn't actually pumping water somehow. So dad got it temped back into working status and is going to get it fixed the rest of the way soon.

We got a quote for putting a fence up along the street. May I just say my eyes were falling out of my head at the rates on automated gates?

I should send the dog up there, he's good at catching squirrels! But they are mean & he usually ends up bloody. (I would never actually do it, although he'd love it)

Sounds like it moved out for the day. I have a trap coming from Amazon tomorrow. The ones we have are too big. 🤞
If it's gone out for the day - squirrel. Yup.

I swear that thing is up there moving furniture. It's driving me insane!
Rat sized traps and a have-a-heart (or not!) trap are the way to go. The rat sized traps can get a chipmunk or squirrel as well as a rat. Careful setting them though because they have more power than a mouse trap and can break a finger. the have-a-heart traps work well, but bate it with peanut butter or put the bait past the lever. I set some bait on the lever once and it just disappeared. Animal came in grabbed the bait and never triggered the lever - lesson learned. peanut mixed with seeds (chicken scratch) works really well.
