What did you do in the garden today?

Yes! It certainly counts more than me nattering about cooking!
We get to natter about cooking?!? I've got a batch of chocolate chip cookies in the fridge while I catch my breath. In a minute I'ma go shape them into balls and bake some, make the rest into balls and freeze for another day.

Hey all. Nothing happening here. I'm going to have to go out & throw some leaves down for the girls, we got a little coating of snow.

I have cranberries in the dehydrator, they were on sale, couldn't resist! I will slice & marinate beef jerky as soon as I wake up a bit.

I made cherry tomato corn salsa from frozen tomatoes & it was just meh. Very watery - I should have cooked it down more like @karenerwin said.

Once the sun is up I'll grab a snow pic.
Ooooh, tell me more about dehydrating cranberries. How do you prep em?

Rain today but during a break I went outside to walk around and pick some radishes. I never pulled out the luffa vine so it is making a few more. Started some of the seeds I got in the mail yesterday. The free packet was phlox, anything I should know before planting it?
Phlox is native in North America and is a plant that many are trying to preserve in nature. It's a beautiful addition to a flower bed or a pasture even. It can spread. I know it tends to creep along and spread itself. It can be contained to a pot though or a raised bed. Plastic sheet mulch may prevent it from creeping also.

I love dried cranberries in salads! Or in cookies - yum. Or we just snack on them. Anyway, we don't eat sugar in this house so I make my own. I cut the fresh cranberries in half, mix with a little coconut oil & then sprinkle in some natural sweetener (this time it was monk fruit/allulose). They I dehydrate for 12-24 hours. Then I freeze them & use as needed.

A lot of people will smash the fresh cranberries, or boil them first so they pop as they take FOREVER to dehydrate if whole. I have a juice slot on my cutting board so I just line them up & slice in half.

I just can't walk away when they are on clearance after the holidays!
KEEP IT! I don't want want it. No! No! No! I'm dreading winter. I dread it every year. I already hate the cold weather, and snow just makes it worse. We haven't had more than a dusting so far. There's ice on the patio though.
:gig I hear ya. I have always been a snow lover, but in my old age it gets harder & harder. I found myself dreading goin out in it this am. I'm not sure if it's my autoimmune or what that makes me have no tolerance to cold. Good luck to me. :lau :lau :lau

Ohhh, does anyone know the best way to cook a 'beef shoulder roast'? It's like 3lbs. I googled & everything brings me to chuck roast - which this is not. I'm not sure if it's a shred kind of pot roast, or cook low & slow in the oven like a roast beef. Not sure what to do with it. First time with this butcher so I'm not sure what all the things are, they label differently than my last butcher.
