What did you do in the garden today?

Ohhh, does anyone know the best way to cook a 'beef shoulder roast'? It's like 3lbs. I googled & everything brings me to chuck roast - which this is not. I'm not sure if it's a shred kind of pot roast, or cook low & slow in the oven like a roast beef.

In a cast iron dutch oven you think?
I'd do the dutch oven method if you have one. You can brown it on each side on the stove top then add liquid (I use stock normally) and slow cook in the oven. Works for rabbits too!

have a juice slot on my cutting board so I just line them up & slice in half
Okay, think I can do that, thanks! Hmm. Can't use coconut oil, The Man hates taste of coconut. EVOO maybe? Sounds good, can't wait. Love these in oatmeal and on salads.
I have always been a snow lover, but in my old age it gets harder & harder. I found myself dreading goin out in it this am. I'm not sure if it's my autoimmune or what that makes me have no tolerance to cold. Good luck to me. :lau :lau :lau
Oh boy, do I hear you! I am a transplanted desert girl and the humidity + barometric pressures really fo a number on my fibro and arthritis. I can tell what kind of day it's going to be when I wake up, based on the level of pain, esp in my arms and hands. Often I feel better once the rain or snow actually start falling!

Good morning gardeners. We still have a little snow on the ground, not quite as much as you got @Sueby. But enough to give the "Christmas in New England" look. It's been pretty cold here already but we're looking to have a bit of a warm up soon. The only outside garden thing I need to do is to haul the lavender I have in containers onto the front covered porch. Yesterday I got some more Christmas cookies baked. Oatmeal and lebkuchen. Next up is shortbread and snickerdoodles. About the shoulder roast @Sueby, yes, definitely roast it low and slow. The shoulder roast is much leaner than the chuck roast so it can get dry if cooked hot and fast. I'm sure yours will turn out yummy. I really love winter as much as the other seasons @BReeder! Each season has its own character and beauty. I really enjoy the slowdown in work that comes in winter so I can rest and relax and prepare for the next gardening season. For the most part, I do enjoy shoveling and running the snowblower. There's a lot of exercise value in that along with a sense of accomplishment. I've lived on different parts of the country and in Europe and I have to admit that I'm happiest where there is a distinctive change in seasons and definitely snow. But that's just me. Have a great day everyone.
