What did you do in the garden today?

This morning dh asked when I was going to fill the garden beds. I checked the weather and answered back with a solid not today. We had 30mph winds pretty consistently from midmorning until 5. Gusts even higher. Sadly I had to go grocery shopping today in the massive dust bowl. Blegh. I hate eating dirt.

I'll get some work done over the weekend for sure. Also, kittens coming home in the morning from their surgeries.

Hey Arkansas people, and others catching this bad weather, we're thinking about you. Hang in there. ❤️

Yea, what awful weather out there in the mid west yesterday. How frightening. ☹️

LOL @WthrLady - I sure did tar & feather her! Good thing is no one wants to be near her so maybe it'll help.

I was just adding things to my online shopping cart & a quart of heavy cream is $7.19. :th

I got a seed catalog too, I think it was High Mowing. I haven't looked at it yet, I was wanting to try kabocha squash though. But the thought of the squash bugs is already stressing me out so maybe not. LOL

That’s a crazy price for cream!

I hope no one goes near her, you'll end up with a 12 legged chicken ball.

You have to watch those online carts.
They up the price, and hope you're just going to click on it to check out. My last trip the the major chain here in town to grab a specific cheese for holiday, will be my last for a while. I was practically tripping on the personal shoppers and their towering order carts and baskets. The amount of time the cold foods were left out while they shopped for 10 people at once and then did check out and pack for pick up was insane. And the packers are super careless with the squishables, and could care less about picking quality fruit/veg/meat.

Not worth it in my mind to click and pay to pick up groceries.
I swear the online prices for the market are higher than the in store prices to pay for all the new employees they use for the pick/pack/pickup service and the warehouse trailer they use in the lot to manage it all. OC this place has 8 tesla charge stations too, but only ever seen one car there, the manager's.

Didn't feel drawn to anything special in the seed savers catalog. Into the recycling bin it goes.

You can't get heavy cream in the stores here! I usually get it at BJs for half the price & they haven't had it in a couple months. There is a local dairy farm that delivers milk but I don't like their heavy cream - it's too goopy. I'll have to switch to light cream, it's a little more than half the price. I will NOT pay $7.19. Can't get eggs either, I had to drive a ways to another local farm to get eggs - there are non in the stores. The shortages are just weird.

That is weird.
YA, REAL dairy cream is amazing. I get it from the next farm over by the gallon jug on separating day. I have to blend it with milk to make butter and extract buttermilk.

The shortages in Ohio are the same way. I've mailed my sister food and meat. Last winter I sent 8 dozen eggs via a friend here going that direction.
No shortages here since that first wee in 2020. Prices on the other hand are a whole other kettle of fish.
