What did you do in the garden today?

NOthing more than filling water tanks and lashing things down today.
I had to repair the hurricane bracing on the main garage door as the winds had already blown the bolts (new door coming in March anyway)
Full on weather work day. We've hit 70! and the winds OMG the winds are NON stop insane. The dog is attached to my leg like a leech.

Lots of rain and wind yesterday. 40 mph is probably not much for some of you but that's a lot for me. Couple of the greenhouse panels blew out so I popped those back in today as best I could. It's a cheapo greenhouse you can't really fix without taking everything apart. Had to stake up a couple peppers and the 5' tall dinosaur kale, but everything seemed to weather the storm well, except my internet, which was down all morning.

Good afternoon all. It’s CHILLY outside! We had rain and a stiff wind overnight, todays high is 58* and it’s still breezy. I’m doing nothing but keep ducks out there today. Daughter brought me sushi for lunch, it hit the spot but now I’m thinking a cup of hot tea and some zombies are in order until dinner which is leftover French onion soup. It’s supposed to warm up over the weekend so I’ll be weeding the carrot patch and such then.

Now that I'm thinking about planning for the Spring, can I plant tomatoes where potatoes were and potatoes where tomatoes were? I don't want to plant in the same spots, but I plant so many tomatoes and potatoes that I don't have much flexibility to but to swap the two each year. There's is a 10'x10' area I could move some of them into where there was 3 sisters planted this past year, but 10'x10' doesn't hold all of my rows of either potatoes of tomatoes... Also, can cucumbers go where tomatoes or potatoes were planted the year before? I need to move them as well...
If I am remembering correctly tomatoes and potatoes use the same nutrients ( or at least you aren’t supposed to plant them together). So I would say don’t swap them. Cucumbers I think can be swapped with either.
I’m not an authority on this so feel free to correct me if I have misspoken

I’ve spent the last 2 days cooking and baking. I’m having an early Christmas with most of my kids and grandkids on Friday. I’ve made 3 pumpkin pies, homemade bread, raisin-spice squares, gooey butter cake, mosaic cookies, buffalo chicken dip, spinach dip, Waldorf turkey salad, and chicken salad. I still plan to make fudge, deviled eggs, and an apple pie. Then I’m putting together a Charcuterie board (except mine will be on several trays 🤣).
I’m taking a break to take 24 pint jars of homemade grape jelly to the local food pantry.

It was a little chilly out there today. Finished up the last details of the new chicken run & separated the coop. I put #1 (the one doing the worst picking) & #3 together in there. I left #2 (the one getting eaten) out with the rest of the flock. No one is happy, the night time roost rumble was all shook up! :gig We'll see how they all get along tomorrow, hopefully I don't have to move them around.

Wow @karenerwin - that's a lot of food! What time should I be there? 🤭
