What did you do in the garden today?

Good afternoon all. It’s CHILLY outside! We had rain and a stiff wind overnight, todays high is 58* and it’s still breezy. I’m doing nothing but keep ducks out there today. Daughter brought me sushi for lunch, it hit the spot but now I’m thinking a cup of hot tea and some zombies are in order until dinner which is leftover French onion soup. It’s supposed to warm up over the weekend so I’ll be weeding the carrot patch and such then.
I've always wanted to make French Onion soup, but all the recipes seem weirdly complex and time-consuming. I've never had it, is it good? Worth the effort?

I’ve spent the last 2 days cooking and baking. I’m having an early Christmas with most of my kids and grandkids on Friday. I’ve made 3 pumpkin pies, homemade bread, raisin-spice squares, gooey butter cake, mosaic cookies, buffalo chicken dip, spinach dip, Waldorf turkey salad, and chicken salad. I still plan to make fudge, deviled eggs, and an apple pie. Then I’m putting together a Charcuterie board (except mine will be on several trays 🤣).
I’m taking a break to take 24 pint jars of homemade grape jelly to the local food pantry.

Wow @karenerwin - that's a lot of food! What time should I be there? 🤭
Yes, what time should we be there!?! /drools

French onion soup is well worth the work...but even better if someone else makes it! :)

Oh, I forgot to add that I bought 19 chicks yesterday! 😳
They were marked down $1.00 off each!
So I got 13 Speckled Sussex and 6 Black Austrolorp. $2.19 & $2.79 each after mark down. ( not sure which ones cost which amount 🤣)
I’ve only been getting 1 egg every 2 days from my older girls (even when they get extra light!). I think the youngest of my older girls is 2 years, if not 3 years 🤣🤣
So I think I’m overdue for replacements.
Oh, and the chicks were marked down because they were getting to be bigger ( 3 weeks to a month old is my guess). 🤷‍♀️
I guess most people just want to buy the cute little baby chicks.

Saw this cute idea on FB ( from Pinterest). It’s a snowman made from canning jar rings.
