What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all. No garden work here. I finally had the chance to blow out the gutter dirt yesterday. There are a few more leaves I could toss over the fence. And I will be moving the potted lavender tomorrow. The temps are forecasted up near 60F today so I'll give them one more day to bask in the partial cloudy skies. Also, I'll likely trim up the asparagus fonds. They have just turned brown. I blame it on this wacky weather. Snow is in the forecast for Saturday and then the temperatures go back to more wintry conditions. Have a great day everyone.

Glad to hear you're on the mend @jerryse.

@Wee Farmer Sarah it looks like you're getting the snow & we'll get the cold rain/sleet/wet snow down here. & you reminded me that I have to dig up some plants! The new chicken run is where my bee garden was & I had put in a few plants I'd like to save. I hope they do ok, I'm thinking they should as they are mostly dormant right now. Gotta get to that today before the girls find them!

Super warm here today, supposed to break a couple records.

@igorsMistress - that is the recipe I used last time for the onion soup, it's very good! I don't use the wine, DH doesn't drink so out of respect I leave it out. & I also use whatever cheese I have on hand. I really enjoy the browned cheese on the sides of the ramekins so I alway put it under the broiler. :gig

@WthrLady - how did you make out with the wind? It was on the news here this am so I'm guessing it got crazy. Hope all is well.

We lost power, coupled with the AWS server outage I lost data on the station, which I hope to recover. We'll see.
The last measurement I got from the station was 53 mph, that's after 9 hours of 40s and low 50mph winds all day.
at 312 the skies went green grey, and the classic freight train roar came from the prairie, two minutes of that and the wind literally knocked me over, which puts it at over 60, the winds picked up as the tornado sirens in the valley wailed. We lost power at 323.
I made a lovely Thai peanut chicken dinner by candlelight, we ate by candlelight, and played jenga and cards until 830pm when the power came back on.
Cell service was hit or miss which cracked me up. I could kind of get twitter, but nothing else. But I was able to pick up my Norwegian radio station no problem the whole time. LOL.
A part of my weather station was found 200 yards away in the cattle pasture, and I have NO idea where my roof panel for the greenhouse is. I'll have to cut a new one today.
Everything else was stored away or built hearty enough for winds that the prairie gifts us on a regular basis. Just 18 miles to my south, winds were 95 mph.

Wow, I thought we were getting some gusts (probably no more than 50 mph, I'd guess), but that's a mere breeze compared to what some of you are getting. So far, everything is ok here.

It was 60 last night, 62 this morning. It is December, right?

My chickens are so glad for a nice safe coop and run. They may not realize it, but they are.

Morning . Lots of wind last night . Therapy going ok . Going to try transitioning from the walker to the cane .
So glad you're keeping us updated and that the therapy is working.

I find it hard to imagine what it would be like to know there might be (or worse IS) a tornado coming when it's dark out. Sort of like being in Godzilla's path but with a blindfold on. And even if you are only on the edge of it, the flying debris can do terrible damage. Stay safe please.

Supposed to be no rain here today or tomorrow, I think I'll pull the tarp off the bunny grow out pen and let the little buggers feel some sun. Had a very nice walk this morning and noticed a neighbor that I knew has chickens, also has a beautiful rooster. He looks like a barred rock to me and he's in his full glory, but oddly, he doesn't seem to crow much. I've gone past that property every day now for a couple weeks and this is the first time I've heard him crow. Is that common with barred rock roosters?

I've never had a rooster so I can't help ya there, but I just think Barred Rock roosters are absolutely gorgeous!

We don't have much for tornados around here, they are generally EF0 or EF1 if we have them & I've never experienced one close. Thankfully. It must be so scary to see the sky turn that green color & know what could be coming.
