What did you do in the garden today?

Having coffee, watching the morning news. More devastating storms in the Midwest. Please give us a shout and let us know you are ok. Best wishes.
Wind was bad here all night, but we are fine. Just a bunch of branches and sticks to clean up. I haven't been out yet, so I may have garbage cans knocked over and not know it yet. I'll have to make it a point to check the cans.

it is 6 am here. I am having my coffee and getting ready to go to athens to pick up my new silkie cockerel :fl

my silkie hen laid an egg yesterday so I desperately needed a roo (my dogs killed one). I was lucky to find a splash one but far away - about 310 miles from me. managed to arrange that he leaves immediately so he is in a truck now. I will have bbs silkies: my hen is black, pullet is blue and my new cockerel (7 mo) splash. so no time for gardening today.

Are you still on the island? Ever move yet?
Glad your planning the future for your flock. Hope moving a flock off the island isn't too hard if the day has yet to come.

unfortunately I am still on the island and don't even think to sell the house before spring. I am downsizing my flock. I plan to keep 4 araucanas, 4 pekins (bantam cochins), a few laying hens, a few silkies and a pair of bronze turkeys.

my new boy is sunbathing! he came from north greece, much colder climate. he is not splash but columbian. I am happy with him.
Pics!!
So all this talk, I'm making french onion soup. :gig

Still warm here. Picking up a cattle panel for the new chicken run, gotta get it up before the cold rain/snow tmrw.

Going to try & put some scallion ends under the hoop house & see if they make it.

Beautiful sunny day here, not much wind, but seasonally chilly temps. I went into town (Grand Rapids) to get something I saw in a store Wednesday. It's a beautiful handmade charcuterie board, and I kept thinking about it, and how much a friend of mine would like it. I took that as a sign I should get it for her for a Christmas present.

So instead of working outside in the (chilly) sunshine, I did that instead. And a few other errands along the way.
