What did you do in the garden today?

I marked off my 4 raised beds in sq feet with string. Cleaned the brooder and added the used bedding to the compost pile. Hope others had a good gardening day! It's been so windy here the last few days, it's difficult to do much. I'm trying to harden off my seedlings on the front porch too!

Sounds like your getting ready for spring.

It has rained every week here for I don't know how long. And it just keeps on. It's hard to do much in all this mud. some of my tomato and squash seeds have sprouted as of yesterday. :)

It's funny how we look forward to spring, but it too has its challenges! Being recently retired though, I just plan my days around the weather, rather than having to try to cram everything into Saturday and Sunday! Congrats on those tomato and squash sprouts!

I just planted two rose bushes, but in the day between getting them at the store and getting them in the ground, they appear to have gotten some powdery mildew on them! I don't really know what to do, since it's around the base of the plant...

Quote: Yes Ma'am it is and does. Congrats on your retirement. I try to plan around the rain also but here on the farm we have daily chores that have to be done rain or shine. hahaha The life a a farmer. I do love it and would not trade it for anything.
Thank you I hope my tomatoes do better this year. Last year everything drowned.

I got this off of the rain gutter grow system face book page I have not tried it yet. But if I find a problem I will try it.

Fungicide Recipe – Natural Cure for leaf mold or powdery mildew
2 Tblsp Baking Soda dissolved in 8 oz glass of hot water
1 Tblsp Dawn dish detergent
Empty Quart Spray Bottle

Dissolve 2 Tblsp Baking Soda in an 8 oz glass of hot water.
Pour the mixture into an empty Quart spray bottle.
Add 1 Tblsp Dawn dish soap to the empty spray bottle.
***Fill the spray bottle the rest of the way with water.
Shake every time before using because you will usually still have some
Baking Soda settle in the bottom. This is a fungicide, but also kills
bugs as an added bonus. You can also use this as a household cleaning spray,
kitchen counter tops, bathroom etc.
NOTE***: The hot water is only used to dissolve the baking soda.
So don’t spray hot water on your plants. Let it cool before spraying.

I got my fingers crossed for you.
