I just do paper towels and chuck in a bag in the fridge, which has better/consistent temp control.Who's familiar with stratification?
I have milkweed seeds for a pollinator garden. The packet says to stratify in cold moist environment for 30 days.
I was thinking about planting seeds in a small starter tray with moist soil and sticking it in a large ziploc in the garage fridge. Should that suffice? Is there a better or easier method?
That's what I did with my asclepias tuberosa (butterfly weed) & it worked pretty well.I just do paper towels and chuck in a bag in the fridge, which has better/consistent temp control.
That way I can see what's going on.
That will work . I stratify in a spare fridge .Who's familiar with stratification?

It looks lovely. I do wish I had your climate over mine. A bit more rain than you get would be nice though still.Good afternoon all. Done with this project. Still have seeds to plant but will do it later.

This is how I've stratified apple, lemon, plum, and pomegranate seeds.... By putting them on a moist paper towel in the fridge for several weeks (depending on the cold hours they need).I just do paper towels and chuck in a bag in the fridge, which has better/consistent temp control.

Ummmm...... yes.42 days, ie, 6 weeks to the spring Equinox.
