What did you do in the garden today?

@igorsMistress I took a screenshot of your dehydrating cake instructions and sent them to my brother and his wife. They are big hikers and campers and I know they have a dehydrator ! I hope they try this. 😁
Karen I use the website www.trailcooking.com for a lot of ideas. If our power goes out, or worse, I’ve got homemade MREs ready to go or the ingredients to put them together anyway.

Hey Gardeners, I am 100% jealous of all of you that are able to get in the dirt and for those that are already harvesting or have blooms REALLY jealous!

Woke up this morning to -11 F with a feels like of around -18F. We are to be in the 40s and 50s next week but still have about 12 inches of snow cover :( Will be starting seeds indoors over the next week as our projected last frost date this year is April 30th.

Happy gardening

Tell me about starting mums from seed wthrlady .
Seed starting mix, sprinkle on top and lightly top with dusting of mix, water and hope they start.

Just back from town - gas is now obscene - up 45 cents from when I bought the same grade last week, well 9 days ago - major chain - away from freeway convenience inflation

What does this do?

I already have loads of egg shells saved up as slug deterrent so if they do something else useful that's great ☺️.
Never had blossom-end rot in my raised beds but the fear of it had me adding oyster shell dust, bone meal, and even powdered milk to my beds and pots the first year here. My egg shells end up in the beds eventually via the compost bins.
he passed Wednesday morning.
I'm so sorry for your loss. /big hug
This past fall I bought the Instant-Pot Max to try pressure canning, after watching the videos @NewBoots mentioned (I think she posted some last summer, which is why I pulled the trigger on buying it.)
Dang, I'll have a job as an "influencer" soon!
Maybe consider one of those camping stoves that run on compressed gas canisters? There are even some (Biolite is the brand I can think of, but there are others) that can run on a variety of fuels - white gas, compressed gas, even wood or wood chips. You couldn't run it inside your house (a garage would work) but if it's something you only need it for canning it might be worth looking into, for much less $$ than getting your home set up for propane.
Oh I want a new propane set up cuz I hate my electric stove, but canning is a good excuse too.
At the risk of getting too political, my horse competitions are a small sacrifice if it means any help at all to our friends in Ukraine, by keeping oil and gas sanctions on Putin.
From your keyboard to God's ear.

Hey Gardeners 61 out but going to rain for a week.
The storm has started here too. Blew like crazy a few hours ago.

Got gas in town yesterday, regular was 4.69 but we got a discount of 20 cents a gallon. We don't have to drive too much so we'll just stay hunkered down as much as possible.
