What did you do in the garden today?

Need to re-pot the wax gourd my neighbour gave me, will pick first broccoli of the season and more mange tout peas. Peas were going mad but now something (I think wild birds) is picking off all the shoots. Will give some more bolted lettuce to the chickens and check the broccoli and cauliflower for caterpillars.

We are currently in a heatwave, unusually high temps, have to water pots every night. Looks set to last for at least another week after the coldest spring on record for years. At least maybe I'll get a decent shot at growing corn and squashes after the last few years failures from too much rain and low temperatures.

Trimmed some of the fern back on the asparagus, dead headed the calendula, trimmed the lemon verbena for drying, started a new lettuce bed, watered everything, cut back the dill, harvested some okra, planted ground cherry seeds and watered mulch.

I have been watering like mad. It seems like we are either getting washed out or drought. Tomatoes and pumpkins are flowering, lettuce is coming along nicely. Peas are on the vine. Melons have looked better, but a few plants may make it.

Picked peas and green beans. Kids ate some more radishes. My first tomato, cuke and acorn squash are almost ready. I have gourds and i dont know what kind of squashes started too. I ate the last handful of raspberries too.
