You just described my favorite thing to do & favorite place to be!Maybe I'll just go sit with the chickens; the run gets a nice breeze.

When I pull weeds the flock really gets happy, I always find grubs.

Probably not where you are located? I wouldn't but as I just told my family last night in a few weeks we will be getting darker sooner which means winter is comingOn a side note, do you think it's too late to start some spaghetti squash? I might run by the feed store and see if they still have any starts.
I'm in the heart of Arkansas. We won't get down into the 50's until late November.Probably not where you are located? I wouldn't but as I just told my family last night in a few weeks we will be getting darker sooner which means winter is coming
Yup, hard to wrap my mind around it, after June 21st the days get shorter. I know that, yet to me summertime & the warm season is just getting started. I'm never ready for the 1st wave of migrating hawks that show up here in August! Like what?! It's still summer Mr. Hawk, aren't you too early? I have visited Canada in August before...yes, I was freezing when the sun set...So, I get it Mr. Hawk, it's colder where you are, that's why you came south. We tend to have a cold & very late Spring here, like I've still worn turtlenecks into 1st week of June, then suddenly mid June, it's warm. July it's brutal hot, 100 degree days with high humidity. Nasty. We tend to have a warm autumn here as compared to where I used to live. When you grow up in a place you tend to automatically think of those typical weather & planting patterns. Even though I only relocated 100 miles south, the weather, wind & temperatures are very different so it is still hard to get used to. After April 15th used to be OK to plant without fear of frost. So I moved 100 miles south, where it should be warmer, but the entire weather pattern is delayed 1 to 2 months. Anyway...just rambling a bit, cuz right now it's raining with thunder & lightning. The flock is fine, even have 2 baby pigeons hatching out, pecking their way out of their shells. Isn't it cool how they make a complete revolution, pecking a perforation like a dotted line then get their little legs and push, popping off the end of the shell? I find both pieces of shell & they fit together perfectly. The newly hatched baby snuggled warm & safe under mama. The beauty of life!in a few weeks we will be getting darker sooner which means winter is coming
The top pic looks like it's drowning to me and both look like heat/sun damage to me. It's hard getting fruit trees started in desert temps but your set up looks good.
Ironically that’s when it starts to get consistently miserable outside most years. Sometimes the fact that Winter is coming is what keeps me sane.Probably not where you are located? Thanks! I used an app and it concurs there’s a water issue lol. I was thinking they’re getting enough water but they’re taking a beating. I’m going to pull the mulch away from the trunks more and let them dry a little more before I water again. Talk about mixed messages. The top pic looks like it's drowning to me and both look like heat/sun damage to me. It's hard getting fruit trees started in desert temps but your set up looks good.
