What did you do in the garden today?

It all looks so cool but especially the water gardens!

Hehe, correct! The vent on the top opens and closes but the sensor isn't reading correctly.

You are absolutely right! Not giving it up though. :wee

Yeah, @WthrLady, what happened?
I'm assuming HPAI

Today has been hectic. I was gone almost all day. I did manage to bring the pumpkin inside the house in an effort to save it from the cold. By the time I got home, it was dark. I have already pruned the peppers down but they are still in the ground. I covered them with feed bags until I can dig them up. Since the ground is still warm, they should be fine. What I did NOT get time to do -

1. Transplant or cover the few remaining strawberry plants that didn't die this year. I will cover them with leaves tomorrow and hope they will make it through the next few days.

2. Move the 5 gallon bucket tomato plants inside. Still debating if I even want to bother or just let them go...

3. Didn't get to pick off any loofah. I've never had any problems with them before during a freeze but I was still going to pick the ones that are still really fleshy and would be the most likely to be damaged by a freeze.

I know some people who live in zone 6-7 and never cover strawberries. they do get snow so they might be protected by it.

I don't think I used a dish washer in probably 30 years. HORRIBLE waste of energy imo. Half cap full of bleach disinfects everything just fine.

Aaron

without dishwasher my septic tank would be full within a month. not to mention time/my energy I would need for dishes. I put about 6 l of hot water from the solar boiler to start with and 15 minutes later my dishes are clean (eco program).

They were destined to be fieldvseeded this week in state parks for hunting, but ugh. Omaha zoo has bird exhibits closed due to a couple sick birds. They are exempt from culls.
Ok, so let me get this straight.
They say the birds are sick and need to be culled.
CHicken farmers they just #%$#lk and kill all the birds.
but these sick pheasants they let loose in the parks !!

Like there is ZERO chance one could get away?
Like there is ZERO chance of a sparrow or other bird in that very same park that picks it up and flies god only knows where with it, (unless thats the plan) ??

Makes me think this whole avain flu is more bullshit to reduce food quantities again.
Just like the covid mask BS is BS because if it WAS that dangerous those masks would have to be treated as BIO waste and burned, NOT thrown in the trash, on the street, in the rivers etc etc.

It's a horrible waste of water to NOT use a dishwasher. 😁 My dishwasher uses 2-3 gallons of water for a load & doing them by hand couldn't come close to that. We saw quite a drop in water use when we put in the dishwasher & saving water was the reason we installed one (I've never had one till now). We use eco mode & did not see a change in electricity, it uses condensation to dry, not heated drying. The challenging part is convincing DH he doesn't need to rinse them before putting them in there! 🙄 Dishwashers of today are much more efficient than they used to be.

I was considering not covering mine & I'm in 6. I covered them last year & it was a big pain & I'm feeling lazy this year. 😂 I have no straw & leaves make a slimy mess of them so I don't know what I'm going to do.

Morning all. Got some rain last night. Hopefully we'll get a frost tonight so I can pull the dahlias & call the garden put to bed.
