What did you do in the garden today?

We're in the beginning of a winter storm. I will be surprised if we DON'T lose power. Freezing rain, sleet, and wind. Bad combination.

I looked at the buds on my apple and cherry trees yesterday. All are still tightly closed. My worry now is that the branches break from the storm. They're small, so hopefully they bend and don't break.

Freezing rain, everything a mess.
BUT before it started I snuck into the city, saw this at Menards

Tomato bushy stunt virus (TBSV) is a virus of the tombusvirus family. It was first reported in tomatoes in 1935 and primarily affects vegetable crops, though it is not generally considered an economically significant plant pathogen. Depending upon the host, TBSV causes stunting of growth, leaf mottling, and deformed or absent fruit.
This is the best research presentation I found on TBSV........

Next up: Peppers!

Started 12 varieties yesterday. 72 cells.

Pimento types, Italian types mostly. A couple of “hot” ones. Not very hot though (or not supposed to be very hot).

Started them now bc peppers seem to take forever to sprout. They are on seedling heat mats, covered with plastic wrap. Once they sprout, and no longer need the heat, then I’ll start the tomatoes.

Supposed to be a nice day today. Warm and breezy, so hope to get out for a walk later.

currently 1' with a chill of -20
I opened the barn door to let the alpacas out, they won't go. LOL. They took one look outside and said 'nope, now feed us'.
Hens are mad this morning and grumbling, but I fed them hot peas for breakfast and now all is right in their world.
We won't get above 15 today.
New lamp I went into town for yesterday, has a fault in the knob. ARGH! The units are now sealed so I can't open it and tighten the screw.
So next trip to town, back it goes.
Nothing happening in the seed shed, warm dirt and lights. The last tray of chia going to the birds today.
