What did you do in the garden today?

Can anyone recommend a quality grow that that does NOT come from Amazon?
Grow what? LIghts?
I got all mine from Homedepot. LED, full spectrum, daylight. Not the ones that go red or white or blue, just quality full spectrum daylight shop lamps. Plants do gangbusters under them.

Iris take about a month to start coming up, which is when I'll start needed the seeding shed for tomatoes.

Random question, has anyone here grown jelly melons (African horned kiwano) before?

Yes, I have. Though it was years ago. I think I even still have some seeds.
I had an odd year where I wanted to plant all the unusual things, lol. So I planted kiwano melons, cucamelons, bitter melons, some fuzzy peach thing that was hard to eradicate afterwards, lol, pineapple ground cherries, etc. 😅
I don't remember much about the kiwano/jelly melon other than it was like eating the seedy part of a slightly overripe cucumber. I wasn't a fan.

Nothing in the garden yesterday or any day this week. We got a light dusting of about 2 inches of snow along with sleet the night before last. A bigger storm is headed our way overnight tonight. My leeks are still coming along slowly, but that's what they do. I think I may start my Russian tarragon soon and see if I have cilantro seeds to start. I'm holding off for another week or two before planting the tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, etc. I have room for seedlings now, but when they're ready for up potting I'm hoping for a little warm up outside so I can put them under the plastic covered hoops.

I haven't tasted a fully ripe local cherry tomato yet. Ever since they started turning slightly red, I ate them, and everyday I tell myself, lets wait for a ripe one, so we can tell what it taste like. This time I am going to wait, I hope the birds don't get them before I do.

I feel like picking the red one...........I'll probably give in and eat it before the day is out......:drool

The half ripe ones are slightly sweet with a slight tang. I have 5 plants and all of the tomatoes are eaten before they reach the house.

This picture is misleading when I went outside to pick the red one, it was orange with green under tone, it wasn't red like the picture.
