What did you do in the garden today?

Hmmm……shoveling crushed concrete. Sounds like a lot of work. Where is it going? Into the storm washed -out areas?
Yeah, on the driveway. We're getting 6 yards. Hopefully they can dump it as the truck moves forward, and not just dump it in a pile.

I've warned my neighbors that they might want to drive "out to the corner" and park past where the load will go. Otherwise, they won't be getting out.

I'm sitting in an all day meeting, trying not to fall asleep. Didn't get to bed last night until 1 AM.

I am behind on all my planting. I also SORELY need to thoroughly clean my chicken coops...and my house. I need employees. 😂

On a positive note, I think my Drip Depot order arrived today. Water line to the garden gets put in next week!

How long should I keep these net cups under the dome and basically wet? Should I let the net cups dry out a bit before watering again? IIRC, I am supposed to remove the dome once the plants germinate and shoot up some leaves. Is that correct
If you leave the dome on once they sprout, they will turn leggy. The purpose of the dome is to sprout the seeds. After the seeds have sprouted, the dome should be removed. However, what if only 2 seeds sprout out of 12? I came across this recently. I took my dome off, and took them outside. I thought, I only had 2 good seeds, but 8 others started sprouting a week latter, so the dome isn't a must have. The most important thing with seeds is moisture, they die if the soil dries out.

Heat mats stimulate the seeds to sprout and the grow light can be left off until the seeds sprout.

No gardening today. Resting up a little. I moved the lawn chairs from the potting shed to the yard this morning. Went to Lowes to pick up my new chainsaw. Tomorrow is bread baking and I should be able to get some clean up and garden prep done as well. DD is coming over on Saturday for a little while to supervise my log sawing. I’m planning on using a lot of the wood for landscaping and creating steps on the slope. I also want to clear the property lines where I’ll be installing the fence. As long as the weather cooperates I should be able to get things planted on time. Fingers crossed 🤞.

My squash plant started making babies after I poured my home made fish fertilizer on it. It made a big difference. The small one will be as big as the big one with in 7 days. This should be the short fruit variety, so they won't get to big. However, they are prolific and I usually get tired of eating them.
