What did you do in the garden today?

Are we related? 😂 I still have quite a few plant babies in plastic containers. It's kinda worked out though as the weather has been wild!

Same here! I have some shrubs still waiting to be planted, my excuse was "they need to harden off" and due to every day since then being pouring-down rain, here they still sit outside a month later in small containers. That the cats (strays as well as ours) drink from, because apparently dirt water tastes better than nice fresh water from an inside bowl that is cleaned daily.

Another set of my seedlings have sprouted! Butternuts and Prescott Melons, to go along with last week's leeks, San Marzano and Sungold tomatoes and (from seed) dahlias.
Still waiting for watermelons (last dregs of some old seeds, so not expecting much) cauliflower (beginner, so not sure what to expect) and, of course, Luffas, my nemesis from multiple years of failures.

Something funny! My awesome sister who understands everything I like, gave me a gift certificate from the Living Seed company, a place in Oregon with lots of organic seed choices. A few of them that I ordered a few months ago have been planted, some have sprouted. After reviewing what I still needed, I ordered some more seeds and they came a few days ago. Now they are asking me for reviews! For each of the plants!
What can I tell them?! Yes they were shipped on time, the ordering process was easy, planting them was the usual type of thing you do for seedlings, some have sprouted, others I'm still waiting.
But their review request was for each plant - maybe ask me again in August or September, once we've had the opportunity to really review how good these plants are by eating them!

Well something ( I’m thinking hawk now) has been picking off a chick about every other day. 😡I only saw 3 in the coop tonight when I got home from work. There is a slight chance that it could have been tucked under the feet of a hen but I’m not holding out much hope for that.
I put the chicks outside during the day and bring them in at night, I built their coop inside the adults coop, the adults cannot reach them. Yesterday one was lost by 18:00 and today another one was gone by 13:30. The killer left no evidence. I suspected a rat, my father said a snake. I returned the chicks inside and until I catch whatever it was, they will stay inside.
I didn’t hammer these poles, maybe I’ll just let the tomatoes grow on the floor. I have an excuse though, I hurt my knee and hand pretty bad after blade skating yesterday. Yes indeed, it’s not because I’m a lazy good for nothing Gen Z.

The Sweet Heart Cherry tomatoes that I tasted came from Fruition seeds. It looks triangle and kind of like a heart. The skin is tender and breaks apart when I chew it, so I don't have to spit it out like the hard skin on other round cherry tomatoes. I would also describe it as sweet and creamy like the lady in the video. :love

This was another wow moment for me as they don't sell this type of tomatoes locally, so I have never tried them. Its way better than the grape and cherry tomatoes they sell.

The texture of the Sweet Heart Cherry is better than the Princess Yum Yum cherry tomato that I just tasted. The Princess Yum Yum has that initial seed goo pop like regular cherry tomatoes, and in comparison the Sweet Heart Cherry is fleshy (Creamy) and doesn't have that initial seed goo pop.

In conclusion, the Sweet Heart Cherry is the only cherry in my yard thus far that gave me a wow moment, but I still have other cherry varieties growing that I haven't tasted like Brad's Atomic Grape, Blue Berry, Black Triffle, Tim's Taste of Paradise, Black Cherry, Esterina, Honey Bee and Spoon Cherry tomatoes.

I'm about to move the 6 older chicks out to a brooder in the main coop this afternoon. I've hesitated because it has been so chilly at night and they aren't fully feathered yet. I need the brooder they are in right now for the 16 babies that hatched this weekend. They've been in my quarantine cage temporarily. The one with the leg issue appears to be improving thanks to the hobble so hopefully I won't have to cull it.

On the plant side of life, I brought the lemon tree and the melon & sesame starts into the garage last night since the temp was going to drop into the upper 30s. I put the pineapple plants inside the little greenhouse to keep them warm. It's easily 10-15 degrees warmer in there. I really need to transplant them to a bigger container. Supposed to rain for 3 days starting tomorrow. Tonight is my last chance until the end of the week to get anything in the ground....
