What did you do in the garden today?

May I ask why? It looks so handy.

I replied with a sad emoji because it's true.
It's so heavy loaded up you can't move it on its industrial casters. So you cannot load it from the back with fresh jars like you should. To put fresh in, you have to unload it from the front and work your way forward each time. And even at a slight angle, the weight of the back jars cause great pressure on the forward jars. Some of the wide mouth jars cause pressure on the sealing rim as they have no shoulder to act as a buffer. I have used non slide padding under the jars, which works for the sliding down problem, but also keeps them FROM sliding forward when you remove a jar. So when you remove a jar, each jar must be lifted to a forward position, which means you also have to leave room for your arm.
Just an all around pain in the butt.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation. If DH suggests this kind of set up, I'll tell him what you said.

Wrapped up a few projects and still scratching my head about my feather loss/pecking problem. Greens and beets seem to be going slow…not sure what that’s about. Other plants seem to be taking hold after their transplant.

For garden and coop things:

Finished the garden gate (close enough).
Put a rain gutter on the coop to keep water from splashing on the sides.
Installed an automated coop door in the coop. (This is going to help so much.)

I built one like that. I have fallen out of love for it and am just about ready to build a normal, one jar wide shelving system like I grew up with. I haven't quite decided in full yet.
Why out of love with it? (nm.... Just read your reasoning)

Would love to see a picture of your alternative....

Something wet has been falling from the sky today, and the ground is wet! Is this what you have all been calling "rain"?

We got about .1", and are expecting about .25" more! Huzzah!! :wee
We had a good inch fall... The trees released their pollen. It's orange instead of yellow. Never seen that before from our trees.... Very weird.

Nope, she's just dug herself out of her spring wet pond and is headed to lay her eggs. Amazing critters.
I wondered. Maybe she slept in our swamp this winter. I hope she didn't have to dig herself out from under the pile of chips. :gig

Thanks for the info. Makes complete sense.

I also wonder if seeing all the tops is much of an advantage. Don't we all make at least a batch of anything we can? The ones we can't see are likely to be the same thing as the front one.

It does look really cool, though. And very well made.
