What did you do in the garden today?

The hot tub was delivered & the cardboard was the perfect size for the walkway in the garden so I got that in. Way too nasty out there to move wood chips in there today, that's for another day.

Dog caught a squirrel. That dog is really good at killing little critters. I knew he had something & I was so scared it was a timber rattler. I live in the midst of what they say is the largest population of them in the country & there has been 4 dog bites in the last couple weeks. Only 1 vet around carries the anti venom. Thankfully it was just a squirrel!

I did the “must do” weed whacking. The part of the big garden that isn’t covered with cardboard and the area around the back gate and path leading to the high garden. Inside with the AC, fans blasting and sipping Perrier. It’s raining sweat from my head onto my neck. Icky! That’s all the garden work for the day. I do need to feed the. Chickens at 3 pm. So I have 2 hours to stop sweating.

2 of my dogs are mountain feists that we got around 9 years ago for hunting. They’re constantly chasing/catching birds, chipmunks, moles, rabbits etc. sometimes good…..sometimes not so good 🙈

I love cardboard, too.

Yesterday I had to get a new water heater, told the plumber's assistant that I wanted the cardboard box it came in. He said "Oh, we'll take it to the dump" but I reiterated that I could use it in my gardens. Then a voice replied from inside the outside closet "Let the lady keep the cardboard". Smart plumber!

I got 17 years out of it, not bad.

If that pic doesn't just say it all! Sweet success!

I hear that! Always glad for less critters but having him bring the dead bunnies inside sucked. 😆 I'm glad he hasn't gotten any birds. Yet. He's getting much more efficient. I had a mean old cat that would snatch birds out of the air.

:lau Too funny!

I was cooling off after the weeding and walking of the garden and heard someone mowing. Then it dawned on me, wait, I"M not mowing, who's in my yard mowing?! I looked out and it was the guy I asked to dig my french drain trench if he had the time with his bobcat.
Sure enough he was at it.
I walked out to see how much he wanted to do the work, since we hadn't even discussed it.
He wanted nothing!
But I offered some homemade jellies to which he smiled and said YES PLEASE!
So my new trench cost me 3 jars of jelly :D

(OR my 3 pints of jelly are worth $200!) LOL
Smokey day out, it's really rolling in now.
I'm out to install a french drain across the gravel drive.
