What did you do in the garden today?

I keep meaning to mention @Smokerbill that a number of people who live in heavily wooded areas around here with large deer populations have similar growing beds as you built. So far the fencing and bird netting has worked. I didn’t find black coated chicken wire @Sueby but I did find dark green coated wire at Walmart online. Not sure if they have the taller stuff. Mine is 40 inches tall. I got the weed whacking done in the front yard. Trying to finish up the laundry. Sounds like a thunderstorm is moving into the area. This wasn’t in the forecast.

Watered garden and orchard.
Picked Blackberries and Tomatoes. :)

Managed two large cukes, which I gave to the hens.
And half a gallon of various tomatoes.
Those poor plants are NOT liking 100' temps and dewpoints in the mid 70s, not ONE BIT.
I suspect it will be the curtain call for the cucumber plant as well.

Hay still hasn't dried enough to bale. I need the sun to come out.
I may turn it later, and then hope we don't get rained on, but it is what it is.
I feel your pain re: hay. Got mine in a few weeks ago, but I noticed my neighbour cut his second cut alfalfa last week, and it’s rain torrents almost every day since. It’ll be black now not worth baling, but can’t leave it on the field, bale it and burn it. 50 acres wasted 😢

Better luck with a third cut, meanwhile I am hoping for some grassy second cut next month.

Ya, sigh. I'd mow it in and let it cycle down.
It's frustrating.
We can't loose this. This field gives us 80-100 bales on a good year with 70% of that from the first cutting.
Last year, a drought year, got us 55 bales, no second cutting.
This year we'll be lucky to get 25, no second cutting expected either.

I've found 6 foot high in the black coated but I can't find 7 foot. I think 6 will be ok though. I've seen it on Amazon.
