What did you do in the garden today?

It rained this morning! We needed it to keep the grass alive. I checked my weather app and it said it was 73 degrees after the rain so I grabbed my bucket and headed out to harvest more grapes.

I weather app lied. I was drenched in sweat within 15 minutes.

I did fill a 5 gallon bucket though... Gonna make more grape juice later today.
That reminds me, with the nice little rain we got yesterday I should go down to the woods and check the Oregon grape crop. Maybe the rain plumped them up. When it's time I'll pick them and freeze them. Maybe make some concoction (jelly, syrup?) using Oregon grapes, salal berries and rose hips, all wild from the woods.

There've been a few sprinkles of rain here again today. Not much, but the cool, cloudy weather will keep yesterday's rain from evaporating too fast. Nice!
I keep forgetting to check the grapes at my mom's house too. She has Thompson grapes and Concords, I think
We had Concord grapes when I was a kid. Mom made grape jelly and grape juice every year until the grapes quit producing enough, probably due to poor pruning practices.

I checked on the Oregon grapes and some were falling off on their own so I picked all I could find. I found a few ripe salal berries too, the really dark berries. Salal berries are a lot sweeter than the Oregon grapes. There were quite a few red huckleberries on the bush but they were so tiny I didn't feel like picking them. Maybe later. It was 73 here too. But the dewpoint was 72, I was SOAKED with sweat in the blink of an eye. So gross out.
