What did you do in the garden today?

Lots of rain today. An indoor, take a nap day. More rain forecast for tomorrow. We needed some, so this is appreciated. And cool today. A "no sweat" kind of day!

I did not get anything done in the garden. Maybe not tomorrow, either.

When I get out there, the weeds will be easy to pull! :)

Heat advisory today, but only 90°, so I went outside about 5pm to check on the flock, the gardens, and top off the wildbird feeders.

I still started dripping within minutes.

I saw a small cantaloupe that had turned bright yellow. I figured it was overripe, so I took it over to the coop to cut up for the chickens.

They only got half, it was delectably ripe, sweet.

I need to figure out which variety it is. I want to plant it again.

How lucky can you get LOL.
I just got through cutting a small watermelon up for our 6, SS girls.

Seeing this is a gardening thread. I thought I would share with everyone how to protect your fruit & vegetables from excess heat stress & fruit damage.

We use this organic natural product to protect our transplants from sun scald.
Also to protect our trees vines & vegetables when the summer temps get too hot.

It's not too late to get this for this season & get plant protection.

Do your own research & please watch the product video
I hope it helps you as much as it has helped us over the decades..

I purchased a two story rabbit hutch from Orscheln when it was clearing out things on sale for conversion to TSC.
What a nightmare to put together. Predrilled holes missing, predrilled holes misaligned, missing door stops, bent cage doors, the roof was crooked due to poorly done stops, missing screws, and the door hinges were on backwards, so the doors opened in, but had a stop inside so they couldn't- didn't figure out that one until it was all together and had to take it apart to fix it. OMG.
As long as I was at it, I built a stand for it so I didn't ever have to stoop.
Going to use it for chicks or for a broody coop in the barn. No more shop dander.

It was 73 here too. But the dewpoint was 72, I was SOAKED with sweat in the blink of an eye. So gross out.
I've showered twice today already and about to do it again. I don't like being sweaty and the humidity is so high that you can't help but sweat profusely if you are outside more than a few minutes

I take so many showers this time of the year that it dries out my hands worse than the winter time

I'm right there with you. Goat soap helps a ton with summer dry skin.

We have been under a flash flood warning for several days now because we have been getting so much rain. Plus it’s been pretty darn hot too.
I went to the baseball game today but it was a slow game and we lost 1-0😞
I checked the garden when I got home and cut the grass around the garden area before it got dark out. I miss not having any cucumbers this year. 😞 None of mine grew or flourished this year. I was trying a new to me variety that was supposed to not be prone to bitterness.

A few days ago I got my first zucchini and yellow squash. I cut them into french fries. I put them in some milk and rolled them in seasoned flour and deep fried them. It was so good that I had to share with the owner of the corner store. She took the rest to her husband and he doesn't like to eat after 4 pm but he ate about a good 1/ 3 of what we didn't eat.
