I don't know how it fares in the south, but my borage reseeds itself readily. I will never have to replant it.but I'm not that worried when I just love how borage looks.

I should probably reword my location for west aus and not the deep south. I just remember that quote from a movie and found it funny. It's just odd that the bed that it originally grew in never ended up self seeding but the bed next to it; that got seeded heavily. I guess it's just the nature of the breeze. At one point it was even growing amongst the grass.I don't know how it fares in the south, but my borage reseeds itself readily. I will never have to replant it.
If your tomato plants are productive then that’s a great idea actually. Lots of people root the bits for more plants.I am doing a crazy thing this year: I am trying to get cuttings off my tomato plants.
Utterly nutty, I am sure, but I bought 2 plants this spring eventually got to plant them: One into a compost ring, where it took off, but never really bloomed (needs more potash in my compost...and phosphor)
the other I put into a big pot of soil I had sitting around for a while. it grew and just now produced one little bloom.
I got them to test the fruit, and at this point I won't lose anything by trying this for next year.
Tomorrow I will try to 'air layer' them as well.
German Empress and Pink Brandywine.
We shall see.
I bought a few little plants from the clearance rack but I am not sure if I have Mandevilla or Dipladenia.
And the available information was not much help either 'if it's shrubby, it's one, if it climbs it's the other, but they have also been interbred, so you can't really tell'
Splendid. I like them though, glossy leaves and showy blooms. Hummingbirds ought to love them.
I wish that happened here! My borage never made it. Maybe I’ll toss seed out this fall and let it start when it decides it’s time.I don't know how it fares in the south, but my borage reseeds itself readily. I will never have to replant it.
I was going by information I saw. I really do not know how long they live as my wild patch is always expanding.Short lived perennial? I planted one small plant of these in the back of my lily bed 10 years ago, I now have a patch 6 feet wide by at least 30 feet long. Original plant still there, and the only reason it's just 6 feet wide is because every spring and fall I chop the heck out of it to contain it. It puts on such a big show that I don't have the heart or the energy at this point to dig it all out. Think it must be invasive for this area, lol
I did some square foot gardening. It's a viable option.I was a good girl today, I weeded my patch and planted 12 cabbages: 6 Collards and 6 Brussels sprouts. I am trying that Squarefoot Gardening thing with a 4'x4' patch this time. I have space for something else, not sure if it's gonna eb flowers or lettuce.
And I put some chicken poop on the compost.
