What did you do in the garden today?

I just cleaned out a shed. One of the plastic storage bins had a mouse nest in it, with dead mice all squished out and slimy in the bottom of the bin. Boy, did that smell! I washed the storage bin out with soap and water and let it air out overnight. But it still smells terrible. I was going to store it back in the shed, but ended up taking it outside, turning it upside down, and will let it sit there over the winter. The plastic bin itself is clean, but the smell did not go away with the washing.

If anyone knows if it is possible to de-odorize a plastic bin, please let me know. Thanks
Try pooph . Not sure if the spelling is correct or not but there's also some sort of cleaner at Dollar Tree. It's called awesome. Other than that I would try putting cedar bedding in it and let it sit until spring.

Thanks. I think I have some Awesome in one of the cabinets. I don't have cedar bedding, but we do have scented dryer sheets like someone else suggested.

Exactly my way of thinking, if I’m cold, I can always put on another sweater/coat, but if I’m hot, more than getting undressed ( 🤪) I can’t do. AC isn’t an option ( with rising energy prices ) and I don’t have a swimming pool, lakes are only a short time an option to cool off before they are overrun by harmful algae

I had relatives that lived in Las Vegas, NV. I would not visit them in the summertime because it was just too hot for me. But this time of year, I would have thought Phoenix would be much cooler than 100s F! Like, maybe in the 80s F?

:lau I know many people wonder how I can live in northern Minnesota with all our cold winter months, but I can put on a sweater in the house or a heavy coat for outside and be comfortable. When it gets hot, there is only so much clothing you take off and still that might not be enough if the temps are in the 100s F. At least I hope it's a dry heat. It's the combination of heat and humidity that gets to me.
We are abnormally warm right now, we should be hovering around 90 for our daytime highs.

I lived in IA, MO and MN, no thanks. I don’t like snow.

I don’t like snow.

 :lau:tongue What do you do with all your snow blowers, snow shovels, snow boots, snow mitts, snow tires, snowmobiles, and snow sleds? You don't get to use any of them without a good snow.

:idunno I am fortunate to have all 4 seasons here in northern Minnesota - Winter, June, July, and August!

We have leaf blowers, flip flops, and oven mitts instead of course :gig

I remember a blizzard that left snow drifts so high against the house I couldn’t see out my second story window. I prefer snow that I can drive down the mountain and get away from.

Had to look that one up!

I LOVE snow! I hate the heat, I could never survive in the south. I can't wait till winter (not wishing fall away though, it's my fave season). I am jealous of year round gardening though. Maybe. I might miss my winters off. :lau

We have tons of squirrels. They aren't as annoying as the chipmunks or mice but they chewed through my chicken waterer this summer & will dig up the garden looking for buried nuts. We have a hickory tree & I love to watch the squirrels go from branch to branch dropping the nuts. Last week there were 6 of them in the tree dropping nuts at the same time.

I had to lock the dog out of the garden, he's been digging to China trying to get a chipmunk. Half the dirt is out of one bed. Can't wait for the new fence to go up!

You take winters off, I take summers off lol. I don’t care who you are, your garden is going to have a rough go when it’s 115 outside for a month straight with .15 inches of rain from your nonsoon season.

Morning Gardeners, I am one that does love snow.
We have been here since good lord was young.
Some years we have webbed feet from the rain.
We do not have snakes that can take you out!
Tornado's don't happen:fl
