What did you do in the garden today?

In my experience, not an expert, the rodent baits are for specific rodents. I used mouseX with no results until I discovered they were voles. I used the VoleX and it worked. Sometimes what we believe is a mouse is actually a small rat, etc. If you get the correct formula, it does work. In rural and semi rural areas of course there are always reinforcements breeding in the fields. Wah!
Haven't had any rats this century. House mice, field mice, deer mice in snap traps. A shrew in a bucket, I let him go outside. The last pine squirrel I had been trying to catch got in the house through the garage. I hate pine squirrels for tearing up my car wiper fluid lines... and packing walnuts in the fenders and engine.
Voles, moles and chipmunks bothering the garden

We caught a rat in the chippy trap the other day! & I'm freaked out there are more. I've never even seen a rat in my life. :th
glad you caught it. as a kid there were rats. my brother used to shoot them with an air rifle at night. when he went off to play GI Joe I kept up the tradition. only way to get rid of them for good is to remove the food supply

I ordered some stuff from Mann Lake Bee supply.

We plan to have another hive at some point, and I think we may need to make a split this spring. I don't know what I'm doing, but I want to be prepared. If they run out of room, they swarm and leave for points elsewhere.

If it looks like there is no more room at the inn (and I'll need my mentor to help decide), then I'll split the colony.

Rhubarb is waking up! Year 3! Planted it in spring 2022. I think we may split some this year, and we need to lift and put new soil under them bc they have sunk in the beds, as expected (they are 2-tier raised beds).

My rhubarb is just peeking through too!

I put the trail cam by the compost pile to see. I'll buy compost if I have to - don't need to be feeding rats! *shivers* Really hoping it was just a fluke & the neighbors pet rat got out or something. 🤭 🤪
So, chippy=chipmunk?
Yes, sorry.
