My mom really loved Rose of Sharon. If I could have dug up her tree and brought it home, I would have... The new one I bought is to plant in memory of her.

ages ago my kindergarten had roses of sharon around the fence. whenever I see them I remember happy times.

The only thing I did in the garden is bury my rooster. Snowbird died last night. Rest in peace, buddy.

Today, I tasted my first purple bumble bee cherry tomato. They are about the same plump size as black cherry tomatoes, but they taste way better. I personally think, they taste better than sun gold, sun sugar or black cherry tomatoes.

They are on the same level as the larger Purple Zebra cherry tomato with the same deep rich heirloom flavor.

For mice,rats and pretty much everything that chews holes in my walls I put down glue traps with a little bit of a peanut butter flavored granola bar and no more rodents. I of course have some really thick skin because I have whacked them in the head to make sure they didn't just suffer. Granted it's not for everyone but I hate them little jerks.

I put the trail cam by the compost pile to see. I'll buy compost if I have to - don't need to be feeding rats! *shivers* Really hoping it was just a fluke & the neighbors pet rat got out or something.

just don't put cooked food in compost and rats will not be interested in. it is cooked food that attracts rats.

I bought 3 roses and am going to plant them. just need to decide where. only 1 is climbing so I am thinking about outside the chicken's fence.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of voles?

Mouse traps work well. We caught six in the garden the first year. And one in the garage last week. It isn't much different than trapping mice.
