I may have a line on some good young roosters if you get desperately hungry, lol! But seriously, save those seeds for next year if you can - they're a really nice interim vegetable for those times you want fresh eats and still waiting for the cukes and tomatoes to ripen.

Nana, it was not just comb. It was comb on plastic foundation that I can't put a needle through (which is why we put it up with clips) and the plastic makes it too heavy and cumbersome for the top bar to be well supported. They have 2 empty frames of wax right now so I figure they'll have plenty of room to build new brood and the frame looked like it was mostly empty anyhow, like maybe some had just hatched out. The plastic foundation comb had to come out one way or another. It's best for them to just build new comb. Since they filled out 4 bars in 6 weeks, I figure that with a little luck they'll probably finish filling their boxes before winter, even with this setback. Especially since we haven't even seen one of our biggest blooms of the year.

Dove; Nothing. It's (very sparsely) filled with brood on plastic foundation that I cut out of langstroth frames to clip to my top bars. Plastic foundation is worthless in a top bar hive. Which is why it all had to be replaced. It can't stick to the bars the way naturally drawn comb does. But it's how my nucleus came so I had to find a way to use it. Unfortunately I have two more frames like that that will need to be removed eventually as well. :/

I could try to clip it back in but they were starting to try to build cross comb because of the clips. So I wanted to pull the clips but now I can't without breaking the comb. I have to let them recover from fixing each frame individually without ruining them for winter.

So sorry your hive suffered a setback. I don't know if my prayers will help much, but I hope your hive will be in a great condition to weather the winter.

Yup, looks like a daikon - greens are good as well as the root - I like to cube the root, fry it in a little olive oil ( or bacon grease like my granny used to do). Saute 'til tender & add the chopped greens at the last minute. Salt n pepper & maybe a little red wine or balsalmic vinegar and you're in business!

I wanted to tell you from Mossyrock Washington state sounds like a tasty recipe

I will try that.
I've heard you can cook and eat regular radish greens though I've never tried them or cooked radish, seems weird but if the little guys on Fraggle Rock ate them all the time maybe they're good. I have all sorts of other greens so never tried radish.
Only time I had a daikon I bought one to slice up and add to a sort of fermented kimchi. I did try some raw and was surprised such a big root was still tender crispy and good.
I will have to add daikon to my garden next yr, never gave a thought to growing them. We love regular radishes and grow a few batches a yr. But such a short window in the little suckers between good, or woody, and then many don't mature.

Rain twice today for my poor garden with the clay soil. So i worked in between showers on unloading the truck and putting the plywood on the floor of the chicken coop, which i finished leveling. Note to self: do not buy the cheap grade of plywood. Usually if i do that i paint it and it is fine. But here every time i paint it rains and i get this:View attachment 1094842

I've had to make same "Note to self"
I actually have a partial sheet of regular untreated plywood, unpainted in snow and rain for many yrs, left out in the weather most the time that I use to throw down outside to work on/get under vehicles. Still looks good, no warp no separation.
Then I've had some warp, or separate like your pic just from getting rained on once. Didn't save any $$ there.
