What did you do in the garden today?

That’s a lot of mangoes @cj2024. Can you dehydrate them? I know they do freeze fairly well but drying them would save space.
Some mango varieties can be dehydrated ripe, but Carrie mangoes aren't one of them, they are too delicate when ripe. Thats why we don't see them in the supermarkets. Ripe Carrie mangoes don't hold up to dehydration, but they can be turned into ice cream and preserved that way.

Anyway, between my brother and sisters' family, several buckets of Carrie mangoes are barely enough to go around.

Watering...some weeding but mainly Watering. We may get rain Friday.
🌧 🤞 🙏

I've seen these forecasts before & we never saw a single drop...think we may actually get rain this time. Remnants of Beryl.

That’s very interesting @cj2024. I shy away from most tropical fruits myself. I’m allergic to 3 types at least what I’m aware of. I have eaten frozen mango but not fresh. I really wasn’t aware there were so many varieties of mango. Thank you for sharing that information.

G’morning all. I watered the melons, fed the crew some wet mash with electrolytes and gave the ducks a mud puddle to root around in. Today is the first day the ducks have left the small yard to explore. One of the watermelon vines has pretty much died off so I need to trim it today. The others are struggling a little bit, but the cantaloupe is doing great. The planter the cantaloupe is in is shaded by planters on either side, so I’m thinking that the watermelon planter will need some shade on the west side at the very least. It did better than I thought and this year is experimental anyway. I’m not sure if I’ll just set something outside the fence to shade it or attach some shade cloth to the fence. Right now I have some buckets out there with some blocks on top so they don’t blow away, I can’t get into the shed and it’s too hot to get in there anyway.

I changed out some of my electric receptacles in my kitchen, they were the wrong depth & I was about to install tile backsplash...I shut the main off for the Whole House while I did it. 😆 Electricity is nothing to mess with, freaks me out. The previous owner did not mark or notate the electric breaker power box well, some circuit breaker switches were not even notated as to what room they were. I do Not want to get zapped!
Good job!

I use a multi meter any time I turn off a breaker or open fuses. I don't care if it's off, I always, always, always, check for transient voltage. I've been hit with 277V from a faulty transformer with no ground. Never again!

I've also worked in live solar combiner boxes... Pretty nerve wracking using a screwdriver next to 600V DC; where the only thing protecting you is a piece of clear plastic shielding. 🥴 Can't turn off the sun unfortunately.

I don't freeze ripe Carrie mangoes; it makes them taste bruised. There is no comparison to fresh mango, unless I turn them into ice cream. Mango ice cream is just as good as fresh ripe mango.
