What did you do in the garden today?

Mother nature gave me a nasty 65 birthday present, garden is pretty much flattened. We have been so wet here that the corn couldn't hold on and is now laying down on top of the beans, tomatoes, peppers and zucchini. Have not got the guts yet to actually go down and look at the mess, but looks bad from the window.
:he
I feel your pain, mine was too, but rebounded amazingly. It's not too late to plant some stuff if you can get it already a good size at a garden center.

I cut up a medium size winter melon and boiled half of it down. I strained the water that came out of the squash and mixed it with my ground up sour dough and fed it to my chickens. They seem to like it; it was all gone when I went to check up on them.

I made Thai flavored chicken soup with the other winter melon half. I have red chili peppers, lemon grass, lime, green onions, and galanga (Thai ginger) growing wild in my yard.

Hey all, way behind as I was away last week. Garden survived & looks great. Harvested a little bit of everything for a stir fry before I left. Much more to harvest now, but I've hurt my back so there it all sits. :hit

I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and try to get some rest. Sometimes rest is just what the doctor ordered.

So sorry you hurt your back.

Feels like a swampy 118°F
Hosed the alpacas and picked a gallon of blackberries.
I am so over the heatwave. Seems as though everyone's feeling it. Even with the pool set up it's not really relieving me from the heat. It's a bit difficult to get relief from the heat when your pool feels like a bathtub not a pool.

I didn’t do anything in the garden today. I had my annual optometry appointment. Cataract in one of my eyes is starting to grow. Not big enough for surgery yet. I did manage to get the majority of the work done in the littles run expansion. I actually ran out of dirt to cover the HC but I can get some from their existing run to finish that off. Just need to install a new door latch and open a passage into the new run. I’m hoping I can do that tomorrow morning. Not sure because I know I need to pick green beans and maybe a zucchini in the morning.

I have a friend coming to visit in 3 weeks. I am using this as incentive to get the weeds under control. I weeded one of the (waaay) overgrown pathways today and was dripping wet. I have set a goal of one bed or one pathway per day.

And then I need to clean the house. :lau
