What did you do in the garden today?

I gave the garden a good shot of water today and watered in some of the chicken compost I spread around the plants yesterday.

I noticed a critter of some kind ate one of my little marigold plants. Nothing left! There are plenty more marigolds, so no big deal.

The rattlesnake beans have climbed about 6 feet up the trellis so far. A few more feet and they'll run out of room. What happens when they have nowhere to climb?

I had home grown zoodles for dinner tonight. :drool

I cleaned up about 1/4 of the garlic I harvested on June 30. It's not drying very fast, but I need to be sure it doesn't rot.
I cleaned up my garlic bulbs up yesterday too, all fifteen of them. They were hanging under the roof of the deck during the hot spell we had, so they're dried out for the most part.

I'll have plenty of nice garlic cloves to plant this October. Some of the heads were pretty danged big!

I am so over the heatwave. Seems as though everyone's feeling it. Even with the pool set up it's not really relieving me from the heat. It's a bit difficult to get relief from the heat when your pool feels like a bathtub not a pool.
There's always the hose?

Been busy. I canned my first batch of tomatillos on Saturday! 5 quarts, plus 1 pint.

Today I discovered one potato that I dug up when I pulled a tomatillo plant out. I pulled it because it was shading my beans too much. It was a volunteer anyway.

Behold! The glorious first potato of my random volunteers! From skin peels in 9 month old compost. Who would have thought. It totally looks like an egg though. 🤣

I found an F350, long bed, crew max sized tomato horn worm today.... Literally, I was just out there yesterday and there was no sign of it.... I sacrificed it to the chickens. It was glorious.

My favorite bee garden tree is in full bloom.

It's finally cooled off a little bit. Mid to high 80°s. But it's humid.

Glory be to the chickens. We all need them to rid us and our gardens of the savage beasts that choose to try to take food out of our mouths.🙏
