What did you do in the garden today?

So, I'm pretty sure you all have seen my insane tower of jars that's threatening to break through my subfloor. Tonight I cut all of the wood, my husband sanded everything for me, I laid down the first coats of paint and set everything out to dry. Taught my son that ladder rungs are always at least 12" wide so you can use a ladder as shelves to dry 12" wide common boards. Tomorrow, I'll have shelves in that closet! <3 I'm so excited! And also covered in paint somehow. Ha.

Last fall, hubby built a pantry under the steps down to the basement. We'd talked about it ever since we moved into the house in 1994!

Now I can can see how many quart jars of tomatoes we have left.

To find work, more food, electricity, go to court. Who knows. Regardless. It's viscous in the homeless world. Others get jealous, or quite literally think it's their stuff, not someone else's. You can also be threatened and beaten for having stuff that others want. Sometimes worse.

My young Roo hasn't tried to crow yet but I look forward to it. Isn't that the most hilarious phase? One of the young hens laid her 1st egg yesterday.

Brutal heat & humidity, steambath conditions...not saying anything new lol, we are all experiencing it.
Garden is doing great. I weed a bit & toss to grateful chickens whenever I pick a few veggies for dinner. Sweat alot, 2 & 3 showers & clothes changes per day lately between drenched clothes at work & my place. Pigeons love bathing in kiddie pools. I'm tempted to lay in a kiddie pool of cool water. But I just hose myself down instead.

Very true. There are tricks for stashing stuff as well as ways to keep your stuff safe while sleeping. Truly a sad situation.

I've wanted to turn this closet into a pantry since shortly after we bought our house. The lack of storage in the kitchen is a problem. It doesn't seem like it until you're living it.

Today I start seeds! It's going to be miserable outside again today, but that's ok.
