Ma used beer on slugs forever nothing new to me.

Sold two pullets, made my breakfast and a potato salad.

my mother wanted to use beer for slugs. my stepfather didn't let her. it was HIS beer

Haven't made it to the garden yet because I have a stiff/sore neck and if I turn my head wrong, it screams at me.

eating hot peppers help me with stiff neck.

Canned another batch of mixed garden things “end of garden” recipe from Ball canning book. The base is apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, ginger, NO added water. It will be interesting to try, not sure if I’ll like it. Used Zucchini, green beans, carrots, onions, red and green bell pepper.

Do you have the recipe, or a link? I'm finding tons of "end of garden" pickling recipes, but none with cinnamon and ginger, which sounds good to me.

Update on cucamelons.

Hubby doesn't like them. Oh well, all the more for me. And there are a LOT of them! I have 3 vines, and wow, I'll have gobs of cucamelons. I am thinking of pickling some, a sweet pickle, I think, but not too sweet. I surely can't eat them all fresh.

Hunted worms. Ran outside in night clothes bc dh said rooster was crowing! He wouldn’t for me/camera. He ran behind door and looking back, I think he was trying to ambush me!
Waiting for snake beans to mature/turn red to use as tomato paste!
Daisy, queen of garden. When I tried to bring a couple of hens in garden she acted like she was after them. Now I’m thinking she wanted them out of her garden!

Still raining & no end in sight.

I picked some blushing tomatoes this am, something (ground hogs - looking at you two) ate the bottom of one. I hate picking them early, they get too soft maturing inside, but I guess I have no choice.

But I can't wait for that first BLT!

A note - don't plant garlic in the same bed as green beans. I didn't think it thru (but I knew better) when I had DH put the garlic in the ground & had him put them in where 1 side of the bean trellis is. So only the other side of the bean trellis is producing beans.

Do all your tomatoes get soft when you ripen inside or just these blushing ones?

G’morning all. I am holding off watering some things today in hopes we get rain, wishing for enough to actually register in the gauge. It’s humid, windy, and cloudy this morning. Like sweat inducing just standing out there, gross.
