What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning all. Debby has moved into Canada and the sun should be coming out soon. Fortunately the winds were not so bad and we got less than an inch of rain. I picked the two grape tomatoes when I checked on the garden first thing this morning. Everything is intact and I’ll start working on the fall planting today.

My snake beans are ripening.
I hunted worms and locusts for the chickens.
The sweet potatoes I planted in a box are happy!
Pretty sure lavender is gone gone. The front patio did smell good for awhile.

Forecast says it's going to be 103, which means it'll be at least 106. Today is going to be an indoor day. I'm still in bed but I'm about to get up and water the garden. Late start today.

My cuckoo Marans, Tinka, is trying to go broody again. I got her to roost last night but I think she'll need to go into the broody breaker. She laid an egg yesterday but she spent a good chunk of time laying in the box later and tried to sleep in the box. She's got that classic bald flap going on and making broody protests. 🙄 My nests are roll away, she literally can't lay on eggs.

Planting beets tomorrow when it cools off.

At the cabin. Cold up here. 55 overnight and 60s for highs. Trying to install an outdoor wood boiler furnace this trip. Grandson and me. I am letting him live here and he chose the furnace.
Sounds like heaven. I can't wait for summer to die.
BLTs are my favorite part of early summer...
🥰
Early summer for you, mid/late summer for me! Funny how our seasons are all so different.

Yep, my lavender is on it's way out too. I give up, not trying again.

I harvested all the celery. I had no idea it would grow so well, I have like 8 years supply. :gig I'll trim it up & freeze it for broth.

Got my fall GreenStalk amended & ready for planting. I did get 1 tier planted with saved spinach seeds that are already coming up. I'll let the fertilizer mellow for a week & then get some lettuce going.

Pulling onions & drying as they are ready. I will go clean & braid the garlic in a few mins.

Sun is finally out, but it's hot.
