What did you do in the garden today?

Picked some guavas.

Thunder and rain started just after sunrise, and it's still raining 8 hours later-a slow gentle rain. It...is.....awesome! (unless you're one of the freshmen trying to move into the dorms today for orientation week, then it SUCKS) HA!
My son moved back in the dorms yesterday. The minute we pulled up, we were swarmed by 6 - 8 football and baseball players. The lady in charge yelled out DS room number like a drill sergeant and they grabbed all DS stuff out of the truck and took it straight to his room. We didn't have to carry a single thing... 😂

Well I was going to set up the blueberry Greenstalk today but then DS asked if we could babysit our granddaughter for a few hours. Since it's so ungodly hot outside, I decided to set up the little swimming pool I bought for her. Took me 30 minutes to get it all set up and filled and the MINUTE I finished, we got a pop-up thunderstorm out of nowhere. It rained HARD for 3-4 minutes and stopped. Sun came back out so I let GD in the swimming pool. Ten minutes later, another popup thunderstorm...with lightning. I made GD come inside. Now she's mad at me... 🙄

And I still didn't get the Greenstalk set up for my fall lettuce...

I have begun a winter gardening experiment in a newly developed garden spot. We were able to expand our property last year with the neighboring plot that has a nice southern exposure, but had an impenetrable bramble to deal with. Craig, helped by the grandkids, nieces and nephews chopped it down in one afternoon. I was amazed! Since then I have been grubbing out planting areas little by little.
Last week I made seed tape using toilet paper and gluing the seeds on with maple syrup glue. It was a fun project and motivated me to dig, hoe and rake out some more planting spaces for the winter garden. I'll let you know how it goes. Hoping for some great early spring veggies!

Came home today. No other broccoli came up while we were gone but all of the lettuce I reseeded did.

I reseeded all of the cells that didn't sprout. Traded out the tarragon for beets. Traded out the onions for brussel sprouts.

Some of the beets I direct sowed are coming up. All of my summer squash I planted is happy. This week I'll transplant cucumbers and seed more carrots. Photos soon. I'm a little sun faded today so I'm ready for bed.
