What did you do in the garden today?

I was at the mall last week, in and out trip to pick up an order. I had a fierce case of the hungries and was passing a pretzel place that has the initial AA. I stood in line watching the woman that worked there interact with two people ahead of me, both construction guys fresh off the site in the parking lot (100° weather). Then she handled a cc and the second was cash, be-booping the register then handling their food. She then asked if I could wait just a moment while she put another batch in quickly.

Sure. Did she wash? Nope. Was she just moving trays to the oven? Nope. She proceeded to roll pretzels. I pretended to take a phone call, waved, smiled, and walked away.

Blech.
Health code violations all around. She should have washed or changed gloves, for sure. DH dings food establishments for that crap all the time.

I think the most astonishing one he told me about was a food truck who was washing dishes out back with a trash can and a hose... 🙄

Have you already done the troubleshooting? They say to fill each tier to the top. I suggest a little bit of air space, just under your drip trays, to allow for dripping. Just scoop a bit of dirt out of the middle when you put in your drip trays. Make sure the drip holes are unplugged, and align with the pockets.
Not yet... I was too busy over the holiday weekend. I did look at it briefly this morning to see a lot more seeds have sprouted. Soil is still moist and it's supposed to rain tomorrow so I probably won't have to water again until later this weekend. I definitely want to disassemble it and make sure none of the water reservoirs somehow shifted or became misaligned with the center spout. It's just weird that it was all draining out the bottom right away instead of filling the reservoirs. Not sure where it was draining from...

I set up a dehydrator for drying herbs this morning. I froze herbs last year and that just didn't work out.

I read that herbs dried at low temperatures retain more of the volatile oils than herbs dried with heat so this should be a good method if it works. I'll use a pouch of silica beads in a sealed container to finish drying the herbs.

I rinsed and drained some flat leaf parsley to test it out.

Hey all. Went away for a long weekend, waaaay too far behind to catch up now!

Garden is trucking along. Picked a ton of tomatoes, green beans, hot peppers & a couple squash & cucumbers.

I pulled all but 2 cucumber plants. Tons of weeds. My spaghetti squash are almost ready to pick, along with my tromboncinos. Any time now.

Lettuce, spinach & carrots are coming up nicely. Strawberries recovering from the replant well & throwing off runners. :yesss:

I picked a few more tomatoes this morning. Then I thinned the collards, fertilized and watered them and the rest of the remaining garden. I had to pick up a few things at TSC so I popped into the nearby Walmart looking for citric acid, fruit fresh preservative and some more canning lids. They actually still have some in stock. Thank goodness because the first two items on the list I really, really needed.

I got an idea after watching this video on Corn Beef. I cooked a pint of dehydrated hash brown potatoes. The one that comes dry in a milk carton at Costco. Anyway, I mixed it with a heated can of Corn Beef and enjoyed it with eggs over easy.

I don't like the already made corn beef hash they sell in the can. The potatoes are mushy, I think the rehydrated hash brown potatoes take it up a notch.
