What did you do in the garden today?

I ordered a "greenhouse" from a site at work only because we get points for performance and I didn't have to spend my $$ on it, and it's already here. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it yet.

It's a beautiful 79 degrees here this morning. Digging holes for the crepe myrtles, clearing some Mexican poppies out of an area, moving rocks and digging out soil to cover the area with pavers.

Have a great day all :frow

I found some teeny-tiny perennials at a home improvement store in the spring that were like .79 cents a piece. I had doubts whether they would even grow big enough to become established, but bought nine plants anyway (3 each of 3 different kinds). They were so cheap I figured why not, since I was getting nine plants for about the price you would normally pay for just one perennial. I got 3 coneflowers, 3 blue mirror delphiniums, and 3 mystica penstemons. All but one have flourished, and four of them are flowering already! They look really nice in the perennial garden, even though they are still relatively small, and the delphiniums are just a beautiful blue color - not purple, but really BLUE! They are not the usual tall, spikey delphiniums (nothing against the tall ones - I think they're beautiful). The blue mirrors are also really gorgeous, and if any of you are looking for a truly blue flower, you may want to check them out. I really love them!

IMO, those small perennials will outshine the larger ones. I would choose smaller every time over larger, even if price were not a consideration. I love shorter plants also. Perhaps b/c I am short myself!!!
