What did you do in the garden today?

Welcome back @BReeder! I’m still in the midst of copious amounts of snow and ice. After yesterdays 36 hour storm dumped about 7.5 inches of snow, 2 inches of sleet and freezing rain then another 2 inches of snow after I went to bed last night. After all the neighbors plowed and shoveled their walks and driveways the plow driver finally came through and threw a wicked bad berm across our driveway entrances and blocked our mailboxes. Wah! I have nearly 2 feet of snow and ice in my backyard and front-yard. I’m guessing I won’t need any additional nitrogen this season. The additional raised bed I ordered from HD may be here anywhere between tomorrow and Thursday. I’m also concentrating on planting what I and my daughter eat the most. Tomatoes, peas, green beans and salad greens. I am adding more strawberry hanging grow bags. That’s if this glacier covering my gardens melts before June. Lol!

We have a lot of rain for awhile now, so my chickens dig and eat so much earth worms and many other things. I dread the worm business in chickens. There is no way of avoiding chickens digging, what the joy of living if they can not do what come natural being a chicken. But I hate the treatment....This week I will get them the med for tapeworm, see what we have in Australia.

How to treat worms in chickens

In today’s forecast, we’re tracking a major shift in the upcoming winter storm, as the storm’s track and snowfall projections have changed significantly. Heavy snow is still expected, but the placement of the heaviest accumulations has shifted, with new areas now at risk for significant travel disruptions. Some locations that were previously forecasted to see the most snow may now end up with lower totals, while others could get 12+ inches of snow. This storm is still evolving, and additional changes are possible as new data comes in. Stay tuned for the latest updates as we fine-tune the forecast in today’s in-depth weather update!

sweet cherry will thrive in your climate but the rest you need to protect in winter.
Yeah, I've been reading about the specific varieties that I'm thinking about... They say they are good through Zone 7. I'm thinking about planting them in areas where they will get full sun but somewhat protected from wind which should help them not freeze.

Hi friends!!!

We have been super busy... We just got home from camping, we were in Tahoe the previous weekend. We're going to Hawaii in two weeks. Somehow I need to get all of my seeds started. I did get all of my peppers started! I also started thyme, spearmint, celery, and salvia.

I planted carrots, cabbage, lettuce and beets.

Today I pulled weeds, let out the chickens, and trimmed hedges.
