What did you do in the garden today?

Sunny here but cool. I might go ahead and put all my brassica plants in the garden while the sun is shining.

I spent the morning working on the looms.
Now I'll have lunch then go plow some roads to get the ice off so the sun can melt it and dry it out.
Nothing on the planning books until the 17th, which is potato day.

I have had bad luck planting potatoes then. But they are bigger ones if they survive. I will spread out the planting so I get enough to live

I planted my bok choy, kale, collards and cabbage plants in the garden and draped a section of floating row cover over them, mainly to keep pests off while they're still small. It'll help keep them a little warmer too.



I also planted one container of my yellow onion starts, 8 rows, 6 inches apart, with plants spaced 4 inches apart in the rows. I had a few extra so I put two plants in each hole of the 8th row.

I might plant the shallots tomorrow if I can figure out where to put them.

Gotta unload the 5 bags of soil I just bought and get some on the potatoes because they started to come up so I gotta get them hilled. I also bought spaghetti squash and watermelon seeds.

I pulled a muscle a couple of days ago and all I was doing was bending over to put something in my daughter's dishwasher. I'm 62, will be 63 on the 14 of this month. My back is still sore and I'm having to be extra careful with it.

I did the same thing to my back a couple weeks ago. Icing the sore spot really helped. It happened on a Wednesday, and by Saturday was about 95% fine.

Dang, we get fragile as we age, don't we? I'm 63 and I refuse to think of myself as old!

I'm having trouble transferring pictures from my phone, so you'll have to just trust me on this.

I have jalapenos and habaneros sprouting! The grow lights and the heat mat are da bomb! Less than a week! For pokey peppers.

Usually, they go in on Good Friday here, but it's been so warm this Spring already and Easter is SO Late this year.. 70s on Monday and Tuesday. It's a rough guess on the date.

Had almost 2 inches of rain yesterday into today...... it's snowing now

I have been seeing online to stop poisoning rodents to prevent secondary poisoning of owl and other animals. I have been trapping mice this year. I find poison to not be very effective anymore. No moral HighGround just after results. Since thanksgiving I have trapped 60 mice and 3 voles. Satisfying to see results.
