What did you do in the garden today?

Fingers crossed 🤞 I am hoping that this is zucchini and not yellow squash.

I planted one rooted Viking potato seed in my small perlite pot with a 3-inch drain experiment. I covered the top of the perlite with pine shavings to prevent algae growth and to form a humidity barrier.

I don't care if rainwater dilutes the nutrient solution, since I pour in a qt or more daily. My plants are still young, and they hardly drink any of it, so most of the solution drains out and is used in my other DYI earth boxes.

Does anyone know what happened with @gtaus? I'm wondering because he's kinda being a mentor to me and I had some questions but he's not been here since February.

:caf Still active on the BYC forums. This thread just moves so fast that I cannot keep up with it. I don't get any notices unless someone tags my address/name. I don't consider myself any kind of expert in gardening, but I do enjoy it. If you have some questions for me, just make sure you tag my address so I will get notified. Having said that, there are a lot more people on this thread with more knowledge than me. But I will always help if I can.

Okay... Here's some better pictures of the mystery vine.

This is the closest thing to a "flower" on this thing. It has these little leaf clusters every 4-6" or so.

This is how the vine looks when it emerges from the undergrowth and has full sunlight.

This is the vine wrapping itself rather tightly around the fence. It is pretty common to see multiple vines or shoots wrapped tightly together on anything it can use (the fence in this case) to climb vertically

After much digging and yanking, I managed to pry up ONE spot where it was rooted in the ground. I cannot overstate how dang near IMPOSSIBLE it is to pull this out by hand.

Honey suckle Vine? Possibly we have those too, but I can't remember if that's the honey suckle or a vine that grows amongst it.

Google says it's Japanese Honeysuckle... And while I DO have Honeysuckle on my property, I don't believe I have EVER seen this vine flower before and certainly not honeysuckle flowers which are very recognizable and fragrant.

So I'm still not sure.... 🤷

Glad you're still active, I too have been missing your posts. From hugelculture, to unusual veggies, concrete mixer compost sifting, I learn so much from you.
