What did you do in the garden today?

Finished the potatoes yesterday, expanded the one garden plot to accommodate. Bought our cabbage starts and a new rhubarb plant. Planted a rhubarb root stock last year and it came up quickly but something happened and it ended up dying, anyone have experience with rhubarb?
I grew rhubarb when I lived in new Mexico in a deeply shaded spot and it grew like a weed. Tried growing it 5 times here in Kentucky in 5 different locations and it dies on me every time. Even tried it in a large pot in case it was our soil it didn't like, no luck. Guaranteed it wasn't crown rot, but no clue why I can't get something so easy to grow.

why does it seem like the ‘supposed’ easy plants are usually the source of the most headaches. Beets give me grief also.

I got my cattle panels today! 🎉 Ended up with the big box truck by default, since nothing else was available in the time frame I wanted. Not sure if I can recommend it or not; loading the panels in was fairly straightforward, but one of them got stuck against the door when I went to get them out, keeping it from opening. 😱 But thank the Lord I have wonderful neighbors who were able to help out, and they were extracted safely!

POWER, GLOROIOUS POWER!
I'm back!
UNBELIEVEABLE storm. Power poles down for miles everywhere, lines, snapped, poles snapped, trees everywhere. My drifts grew to 5 feet. Wind topped several times at 75 miles per hour all day, mostly hovering around 65. INSANE.
Power was lost early and just came back.
Thank goodness it wasn't frigid out- we managed with just an extra layer. Plowing roads was crazy.
We had banked water, so that wasn't a problem.
My generator 20 years old , had a cracked tank, so we did loose the contents of the upstairs fridge and freezer. Annoying, but oh well.

New solar and battery generator is on its way.
Now we'll never see another storm again. LOL.

Potatoes still not in the ground.
New e-bike arrived today.
OH, and ALL the snow is already gone, except the largest drifts, and it will be 70 all week and 85 on Thursday. Winds to 45 . It's March.

All 3 broccoli plants that are going on 2 yrs old are producing florets! :celebrate
I've noticed that all 3 are purple broccoli so I guess maybe that's just a hardy variety? I need to get some netting up to ensure I don't get any cabbage loopers. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow...

I spent most of the day working on prepping the spot for my 2 new asparagus beds. DH is painting and building the raised bed frames for me. Getting the weeds, and especially the bermuda grass rhizomes, out of the planting area as much as possible. Love bermuda for my horses and goats.... Not so much for my garden and flower beds. 🥴 Anyway, now I'm pooped and my feet & back are aching...

Also found a box of gladiolus bulbs from Brecks that never got planted. They look really dried out... I went ahead and put them in a planter but not expecting much. 😕

I made a list of 5 things to do today and I got done about 1 and a half... 🙄
