What did you do in the garden today?

POWER, GLOROIOUS POWER!
I'm back!
UNBELIEVEABLE storm. Power poles down for miles everywhere, lines, snapped, poles snapped, trees everywhere. My drifts grew to 5 feet. Wind topped several times at 75 miles per hour all day, mostly hovering around 65. INSANE.
Power was lost early and just came back.
Thank goodness it wasn't frigid out- we managed with just an extra layer. Plowing roads was crazy.
We had banked water, so that wasn't a problem.
My generator 20 years old , had a cracked tank, so we did loose the contents of the upstairs fridge and freezer. Annoying, but oh well.

New solar and battery generator is on its way.
Now we'll never see another storm again. LOL.

Potatoes still not in the ground.
New e-bike arrived today.
OH, and ALL the snow is already gone, except the largest drifts, and it will be 70 all week and 85 on Thursday. Winds to 45 . It's March.
So sorry 😔
Late storms are the worst

The snow water ratio was almost 6, which means it was so wet it was almost water, it stuck to everything and was non-stop for 12 hours. It weighed the massive evergreens down into lines and into houses. The weight of it was wild.
When it got to me it was almost 3 inches of wet snow that melted to 1.5 inches. I knew I was lucky but I didn't know you had it that much worse.

I’m glad to hear you’re okay! Sorry to hear about the generator dying like that, hope the new one wards away any more outages for years to come!

The pea seeds I planted in the garden a month or so ago are finally starting to germinate. The remainder of that raised bed will be for my three grandkids, who since my son moved in with me are here every other weekend. Maybe I can instill a love of gardening in the young'uns this spring/summer/fall.

One wants to grow strawberries. One carrots. The third, youngest one, might not be interested in gardening yet.

I mixed up a bucket of potting soil/mole hill dirt for up-potting my pepper plants tomorrow.

We got 9 inches with 5 foot drifts around the ranch. There were 8 foot drifts down the road, and about 20 miles west was 12 inches and even a more insane amount of downed poles.

Do you have any issues with rot of any knid with your onions?
I haven't in the past. I plant starts from Dixon Dale company and they send them 6 weeks before your last frost date. The first time I did that (3 years ago), I was skeptical and then I got softball size onions that year! Now I just do it, but I have to cover them if it's going to snow or get super cold which always happens planting this early. I started saved seeds this year to make my own but I didn't get them planted in time because an invasion of fungas knats in my house.

Got more stuff out of the henden for getting the seeds started. I have paper cups and some squared containers that my inhaler came in. I'm using those to keep my seeds watered without having to put the water on top. I'm going to take the time to get my tomatoes and peppers started. I still need to build more beds and get them filled up so that I can get my onions planted. I might use the small pallet bed for some more potatoes. I also need to get more soil for the garden.
