What did you do in the garden today?

Two of our BO hens each found a toad the other night. Both ate them and the one hen I thought was going to choke to death in the attempt did not. She did pause and grunt for a moment and I went to get her to pull the toad out BUT…..too late…..down it went. The unfortunate toad was about this size.

The size of things they can swallow always shocks me. My smallest hen who is probably only 3.5-4 pounds managed to eat an entire vole whole. Pictures of the chase (barred one is the small one)…

When it's not raining today -- if it rains -- I'm going to string trim a lot of areas in and around the garden.

This time of year is like spring in reverse, in so many ways. Days getting shorter, temps getting colder, and dead/dying plants to rip out.

Same thing happened with me . Of course since they need to have me scared she swallowed it halfway then proceeded to walk around for 15 seconds before she finished swallowing it

Walmart is price scamming on some things. I saw this on YouTube and found it to be true yesterday. Looking at food processors. An 8 cup Hamilton Beach on middle shelf about $60 and on the bottom shelf about $70. Same sku number. I knew it would ring up the higher price. With a cart full of groceries, you might not notice.

My super hot pepper seeds got here yesterday
What I ordered was a bundle thing of 5 types of peppers with 10 seeds each and i got a lot more than that. I got an extra seed packet and each has 15+ seeds. Oh and it came with gloves with I found really funny for some reason even though it makes complete sense. For $12 and free shipping (and supporting a small business) I can’t see how that can be beat, especially since it is usually around $4-5 if I were to buy each of them individually. This is where I got them from if anyone is interested

Just ordered a load of lumber from HD to start work on building my new 10X16 shed/coop idea with a shed roof design. Need to provide more chicken space, consolidate all chicken accoutrements and chickens in one location, open up the existing shed for other purposes, and remove the zero turn from the garage. Besides, I need a project…….just because.
